| Hi, There have been some really good discussions in the forum about modifying/tuning for the R171. I am lucky enough to have a Carlsson supercharged SLK55. I concur entirely with Dans experience on two counts: 1. Sport cats/headers make a big difference on a supercharged engine. In my case they have altered the throttle response, torque/bhp and given the car a much deeper more aggressive sound. 2. More bhp/torque alone is not the whole story. Losing flab from the car is also important. To this end does anybody know where I can get hold of the 19 inch alloys from the Black Series SLK55? I was at AMG last week and our plant tour guide was unable to help me and as yet AMG have not answered my e.mail. Thanks Grigio |

| Go to their website you will find the AMG performance list at their performance studio at AMG Official Website. Its a PDF file with every accessory or part that you can add to the SLK. Try contacting or going to your parts department at the dealer in regards to the wheels, I hope Dan will chime in as he is very experienced with the MB model range. How is your Carlsson SLK, as I have the Carlsson/SuperSprint X pipe or we could say Manifold.

| Hi grigro mate, I have been keeping an eye on the EPC for Black Series parts because i want to get my hands on some TCU's and as of yet none of the major parts are available from MB things like the roof, the bumpers and unfortunately the wheels. They are bound to appear over time but how long it could take i have no idea sorry mate, have you thought about using OZ or something like that instead they are very light.

| Dan, Shame about the Black Series Alloys. What do the OZ Supperleggera weigh in 18" or 19 " format? I thought I read somewhere 9kg for the Black Series. Jliu/Alroumi, no before and after dyno. Carlsson reckon 480hp/650Nm for supercharger/intercooler/ECU alone and ca. 500hp/700Nm with headers(manifold)/sport cats and full system. It is a well executed conversion in my opinion. No brutal onset of torque and smooth with good throttle response. More like a larger capacity n/a engine than say the Sl55 motor. I think for that reason it is easy to underestimate how quick it is. I guess in the USA Kleemann and Renntech are more popular. |

| the carlsson kit marketing said it had about the same hp as the renntech kit. But for some reason they felt that it was appropriate to price it at almost double everyone else. Btw those numbers are at the crank I believe correct? |

| Those are crank figures not rear wheels. Carlsson is a relatively small company maybe they cannot deal with the logsitics of a US operation. I can only say that my experience is that they have a well developed product. Shame thre is no chance to compare driving/performance of say Carlsson/Brabus/Kleemann/Renntech SLK55s. I am still of the opinion that with say 150kg less weight the SLK55 regardless of tuning would be a totally different driving experience. Even with 480-500hp I notice the difference beween me/passenger/full tank and just me /almost empty and this is only say 100kg difference |

Superleggera: ![]() 18" Superleggera - 24.2lbs 19" Superleggera - 26.8lbs OZ also makes the Ultraleggera in sizes to fit the SLK: ![]() 18" Ultraleggera - 18.6lbs 19" Ultraleggera - 20.6lbs I am VERY seriously considering the 18" Ultraleggera, IF I can get my head around how they look - not sold on that aspect of them just yet.

| Go for the Superlegga in 18" diameter with aggressive/wide tyres for the rear, you definatley need them since you have loads of torque especially when the S/C opens up at low rpms or in low speeds.

| Thanks for the feedack and opinions on the wheels. I personally find the Ultraleggera okay. If I cannot hold out until the AMG becomes available at a realistic price then I think the OZs would be a good alternative. Are there any pics of an slk with the ultras? |

| Hi, does anyone know where I can get hold of OZ Ultraleggera 19" at good prices preferably in mainland Europe? A contact in UK said they are in liquidation and are not producing anymore aftermarket alloys. What about HRE alloys? Are their COMP C21/C22 lighter than OZ? Are they pricewise and qualitywise comparable? Cheers Grigio |

Yes but they are ultra expensive from what I know, the C21 is nice, I would consider that. Interms of Quality, I've heared good and bad things but mostly positive comments.

| Thanks Dan, thanks Alroumi, I have sent out an e-mail to OZ UK as well as HRE. The HRE are around 1700dollars per wheel that is far too much! Ultraleggera seem to lie around 400 pounds per wheel which is okay if they have the right sizes. Any other tips from your side light BBS for example? Thanks Grigio |

| I saw these BBS LM for sale last night browsing around at different wheels. Used, sold, and wrong pcd but nice looking none the less. Mmm, I love some light gold wheel with polished lip on a black car. |

DCR is less than $1K per wheel, they are 3 piece forged wheels, I have them and love them. 19x8.5 is about 23lbs and 19x10 is around 26.x lbs, light but not ultralight. Good luck in your search.
