Short antenna

I need help finding a short antenna for my car, i went to MB west hampsted to ask if the SL antenna would work with my car and they told me that i wont since the SLKs antenna is a female end connection and the SL is a male end connection. ive been going mad trying to find a substitute. Thank you in advance for the help

The SL antenna matches to the SLK, but the radio receive is worse and the remote control is working not in long distance.

I am using the SL antenna on short ways, the whip is coming on board on long tours.

The SL antenna just screws right on, it'll fit, like owl-slk said, radio reception and remote range are limited. There's a bumper extenstion that can be attached to the rear bumper for better reception and range. I have the r170 short antenna and everything works fine for me.

I have purchased a short antenna from MB (30€) which is not coming from the SL (probably the R170 antenna) and I should have the reference somewhere. This short antenna works properly.

here's a piccie of my SLK with an SL antenna - when I'm not watching DVD's ore Sat Nag or listening to MP3 DVD's I listen to BBC Radio 2 (a national station in the UK) - I have no probs with the reception of the radio, (still get traffic announcements), good range on my remote, and, when I get round to fitting it, should get good range on my roof module (BTW, it's been washed since the piccy) - and, the antenna only cost £19.00

Same here....I also have the shorty and when I'm not using my XM Sat, CD's, DVD's or Navigation I have used the radio and its not too bad. I actually expected worse.
I have noticed that the remote range is less......thought it was the battery in my keyfob but I guess not.

Can you watch DVD's on your COMAND system in TX - I thought the American system's could not do that ????????????

I have an aftermarket (Alpine) unit and it has a module installed which turns the security off and will let you watch DVD's while driving if you like.

It was mainly for my son to watch movies on my 2 day drive here to Texas from Florida.

I never watch movies in the car.....Why would I do that when I have a 70 inch JVC HD-ILA big screen at home.......

The part no. for the SL antenna is A 230 827 01 01 9xxx (xxx =color code number for your car, e.g., 723 is for cubanite silber). Just remember the range for the SmartKey is reduced to 10 meters or thereabouts.

just got the SL antenna over the weekend... it was about $100 tax included... can anyone tell me the difference between the brabus antenna and the SL antenna?

Brabus is using a short one with a booster and you have to fix cable in the rear bumper. The SL antenna is just a "fake".

The whip has the best radio reception.
