I think what OWL SLK meant with "fake" means it's not a functional piece. One cannot tell the difference between the SL and Brabus antennae from a distance. Brabus will also paint the antenna base to match the car, including the AUX ANT install (cost is around $500 for parts and labor, including paint).

That´s true Eddy.

I friend of mine is working on a antenna for the R171, but we have to wait a little for the result.

That's because Brabus antenna includes installation of an auxiliary antenna in the rear bumper.

Too bad, I was thinking of changing mine due to lots of people telling me my Antenna looks cheap and to long.

Behold . . . the power of BRABUS.

But the reception sucks. No mind, I just listen to Sat radio.

Hi,

I bought the short antenna in Bremen for 30 Euros. I believe its a R170 antenna. Contrary to Woolly, my radio reception in the London area is very very poor. I have no problems with all the other functions.
If you like listenineg to the radio and you live in the London area, maybe you should consider having the antenna with the bumper wire which garantees a much better reception form what I read.

Ciao

The Brabus solution in the bumber is not much better than the short version only. The difference you find just in the price...

And the fact that it is very high quality, paint-matched perfectly, installed with OEM expertise, and has not had a single problem (paint flecking, etc.).

Sometimes, you get what you pay for.

For sat you need to have an antenna installed? Or does the car already have it? I have the sat button on mine, but when I push it says, "no satellite radio"...So I have no way to get the ESN to register it.

Sat radio uses a different antenna that looks like a bump on the trunk/boot lid.

So where can you buy the cheapest OEM SL antenna? Ebay doesn't seem to have them, or at least not at this time.

I got mine from MB dealer Part No. A 230 827 01 01 9xxx where xxx=color code of your car. (e.g., 723 is for pewter or cubanite silber). Cost around $95 to $100. Not cheap at all.

Can you get it in just black plastic look? As, my car is Orion Blue and I am sure they don't have it in that color. And not looking to have to have the base painted along with the stem at a body shop.

I had a quick look and to me it only seems to come painted but if you remove the ES2 code from the PN so ignore the 9XXX you might be able to order it without

You can use the black color code and get a black SL type antenna.
