Hi Everyone! I am a new SLK owner and I have some questions. My car does not have a cd changer in the trunk. Can I simply buy a used changer and put it in? Is the car pre-wired for one or will it need wiring. Alternately, can I jsut remove the head unit and replace it with an aftermarket radio/cd player? I have read some thread here about installing new head units but I was unsure if they use the OEM cd changer or whether they are installing a stand alone cd player.
Finally, there is a cd changer from a 98 E320 for sale locally. Will that changer fit my 2004 SLK 230? Where would I get the mounting bracket if I did this?

Need VIN to verify optical cable for CD. MY2004's probably have it. There may be a loose optical cable at the rear right side of the trunk behind the panel.
I assume you have MB audio 30 and it's plug and play.
The 98 E320 is dash mounted with a different P/N. Probably won't work.
Thanks for all the responses and the welcome. Great information! I went out and looked closely at the car. Openned the rear right panel where the pump is for the hard top. I found a series of orange wires marked as part of the audio system. So I know the car is wired. All I need now is the changer!
