I knew that would get noticed. It started out clean . . . really.
I clean the windshield at least every other day. The joys of driving 90 miles a day on the autobahn. I know you folks who are forced to drive at a snail's pace are sorry for me.

I remember driving in the Italian alps where the major hairpin turns were numbered and there were 33 going up and 31 going down. That was in my 1972 VW camper, so you might have a lot of fun driving there while you are in Europe.
Hey Kevin, I know you can HotRod on the autobahn but what kind of speed do you usually drive on average???
Inquiring minds want to know...
SLKman
Going to work I normally drive 100-110 mph. If I'm late I'll push it to 120-130. And if I want to reassure the balancing of my tires I'll max it out to 150. Right now I go to work at 11 pm, so traffic is minimal. I can only do this because 85% of the portion of autobahn A6 I drive on is unrestricted.
Coming home at 10 am I stay at 100, unless I encounter some wise-*ss who wants to hotrod, than it's whatever the mood is and what the traffics like. But normally I set the cruise to 100.

Nice toy Kevin. We did a tour in Karlsruhe years ago and loved the cross country trip to K-town. What performance upgrades have you added?? I am new to the group with an '03 SLK320. I wanted to add a performance chip and jazz up the exhaust sound a bit, but I am not sure where to begin. I am coming from living with Alfas for the past nine years. You can see, I am still in therapy.

Hey DesignoSLK - is there *anywhere* that list the unrestricted portions of the autobahns? Wife and I were thinking of wandering over to see some friends stationed at Geilenkirchen, and I figure I may as well maximize the fun bits since I'll be doing all the driving. Just randomly looking for the "three stripe" speed signs seems not to be the best way to do it - last time seemed to only find short bits (literally like a couple of klicks), or I was seriously missing the signs. The only nice long bit I found was under construction and filled to capacity with traffic :P
UK-C200, I couldn't tell you of a place that tells the speed restrictions across the country but you can expect restrictions around congested area, usually 120-130 kph, or tight curves (for the autobahn). Summer increases the construction greatly and of course we are now in holiday time so the roads will be even more congested and staus will abound. I have not travelled up to the northwest areas at all yet so I can't comment on specific areas around Geilenkirchen, but if you get away from the larger urban areas, you'll find more and more fun sections to enjoy.
Sorry for the delay in replying to questions. Trying to catch up after 3 months of not logging in.
alfalex - No performance upgrades really except a K&N airfilter.
Scott - We're ready when you are!
UK - I concur with what Brad said. Lots of construction on the A6 right now, so the lengths of which I can open her up are shortened for now. It's better for the mpg this way, and the bugs/chips to the frontend.
