Default Resonator Removed Video

I was inspired by dsb's video from last week and made this one yesterday. I just duck taped my camera to the tow hook.

I had my resonator cut off a few weeks ago and this is what it sounds like. Hope it will give those who are thinking about doing so an idea of the sounds.

Lizard,

That sounds great! I was listening closely trying to tell the difference in sound between yours and my 55. I assume you had the resonator replaced with straight pipes? It sounds very harsh... in a very good way of course! I think your car is louder during cruising... maybe even a little louder during acceleration too.

How else do you think it compares?

Lastly, thanks for adding the clip. It looks like you have some nice scenery there.

I compared the two and they did indeed sound very much a like. I think the straight pipes made it seem harsher during cruising and definately at iddle. I'd prefer the deeper tone that you got out of your x-pipes. Mine reminds me too much of a Harley. Maybe I'll look into doing a swap for that x-pipe in the near future. Thanks for the inspiration.

It was a nice, low 70 degrees, morning here in Northern Virginia.

Lizard,

If you do another clip, here's a recommendation. Place the transmission into S mode. Then select 3rd. Let the car nearly reach redline in 3rd gear. Then let off the gas. As the rpm's lower, you might hear some great crackles and pops from the exhaust.

Personally, I'd love to hear it.

BTW, I once heard a straight pipe 55, but it was when I had a stock exhaust. At that time, I thought it was real loud. I would love to run into someone now and hear the difference. One thing's for sure, you must have a sixth sense for police when hitting the gas. Regardless of the speed, it sounds like you're breaking the law! haha.

Spot on, I too have noticed it from the start up sound as it sounds more free flowing whilst the xpipe eliminated some of the unwanted harley like sounds.

I think it sounds really muscular in the second video, whilst at cruising its loud and scary like a harley davidson vrod.

Thanks, everybody. I have decided to get an x-pipe put in place of my straight pipes. I think it will give off a cleaner sound, especially at iddle. I've made an appoinment for this friday and will post some clips and comparison to the straight pipes.
I'm getting the Magnaflow, universal x-pipes put on. For those wanting to get it done, it's the 2 and 1/4 pipes.

Good choice,

You are going to love it and it will still sound nice but will eliminate the harley davidson like sounds at idle or low speeds that you've seem to have with the straights.
