Don't know the specs but I thought the GTI was faster than that!

About what I expected. Even though slower in theory, the GTI will often have the edge off the line, because it is so easy to drive fast. You just plant your foot down and let the DSG do its miracle work.

maybe i am bias cause i own the previous version GTI, it's a fun car
but the new one is even better, the DSG gearbox is amazingly fast and smooth
flash the chip of it, the car becomes a totally diff car and i think it will probably beat a 280?

It can,

I drove an ABT GTI with a flash, air intake and exhaust which helps it produce another 40hp.

I felt that its quicker than the SLK280 we had off the line but since the GTI is flashed, the topspeed can go over 240kmh which is where it was limited at from the factory.

The R32 isnt much faster off the line if you look at some video's posted on youtube, however it does look nice at the back but the front grill is too tame with all of the chrome.
