Sounds mean and aggressive.

chrome-tec, I love the sound!

Is this just from the exhaust?
The reason why I'm asking is because a month ago I installed the AMG exhaust (the P/N for the SLK350 not the actuall 55) and my sound result is no where near that!
Mine is deeper, a lot less loud and with almost no roaring!

Any suggestions how the outcome can be so different?

Silk according to a member over at Benzworld there are two "55" look quad tipped mufflers for the SLK range, one is the 200/280/350 Quad AMG which requires no modifications what so ever and the actual SLK55 Muffler which requires a few modifications. The one on the 55 is the muffler you want for that sound other wise the 200/280/350 is slightly different than the oem in regards to sound levels and is just an exterior enhancement product.

Hello SILK,

thanks for your compliment.

yes, i love the sound too, its the perfect sound for the 350...

i agree complete with mohammed.

i gives 2 variants from AMG quad exhaust systems.

1. the aftermarket AMG quad system (only the both end exhaust boxes), looks like the 55 exhaust system, sounds a bid better like stock, but you dont will get the perfect sound,
fits the car without any modifications.

2. the OEM SLK 55 AMG exhaust system (both end exhaust boxes + the middle box). when you use this system at the 350 you will get the sound like my 350...
for installation are a few modifications at the car needed. you must cut the OEM exhaust pipes after the kats (bevore the both pipes make the curve) about 12cm send you must weld on the both curves. further, cutting out the rear bumper, after this the OEM SLK 55 AMG exhaust system fit the car. and yes, sound is just from this exhaust system...

working time for a professional garage is 4 hours.

ciao

pat

Best sounding 350 I've heard. Now, an x-pipe and we're done.

According to several members on previous posts in my Supersprint/kleemann exhaust thread replying to a 350 owner who is willing to have an xpipe installed, they said its not possible.

Well it seems that I didn't make the best choice!
Pity!
Is there a way I can enhance my sound without having to replace the back boxes again?
What If I replace just the middle box, would that make any difference?
Thank you guys anyway.

Hi SILK,

the middle box alone dont bring you the sound.

its the combination from the middlebox and the both end boxes from the original SLK 55 AMG exhaust system who bring this roaring sound,
but above all, the two endboxes are responsible for the roaring sound...

other aftermarket exhaust systems for the SLK 350 only bring a dull deep sound, i do not like because it sounds not like a real sportscar.

the roaring from the 55 exhaust system remembers to an italien sportscar...
so my personal opinion is that the 55 exhaust system is the best system for the 350 you can get on market...

so i fear that you must change your system including the both end boxes...

ciao

When you guys are saying middle box, are you talking about the dual passage resonator approximately in the middle of the car. If so, a Magnaflow X-pipe fits perfectly in it's place for about $200 including labor. On the 55 engine or any V-8 with an X-pipe, the engines sounds more like a 180 deg or "flat crank" configuration. The system breaths better and has a slightly raspier sound. The video's I've posted are recorded with a blue tooth mic mounted on the rear license plate so that's a pretty good indication of what the 55 sounds like. I'm clueless on what it would do for a 6. I can guarantee you it won't be quieter.
