Default SLK55 vs C5 Z06 at TWS in March 07

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2...87015be8de.htm

The guy in the red Vette could really drive. He took advantage of every mistake I made and I made several, like being in the wrong gear coming up the hill after 7. The only way I could stay ahead of him was to put some distance between us on the front straight. This was the last session that weekend and was shorter than usual.

Yep, that was me. Had video camera problems both days in addition to shredding some otherwise worthless slicks.
I've already signed up for the Sept. Solo event and about to sign up for the Nov. event.
Did you ever look into the suspension mods we discussed?

I remember meeting you. I was driving the SLK350. Even though I could improve my suspension (I would have to go to KW, Dan says the Black series was not available, and already had the sport suspension from Mercedes Benz) to improve my corning, getting burned by a turboed Evo aggravated me (I could dog him through every corner, but on the front he just kicked in the turbo and pulled away), so I have now purchased a 55.

It will be a while until I can tear it up again with the same comfort level as the 350, and will take a while to get use to not clutch shifting.
I will need to upgrade suspension just to make me competitive, but hope to be able to "play" with my Audi S4 Stage 3 buddy.

I have signed up for November and will probably do the September at Motorsports Ranch if it is not sold out.

Congrats on the 55. Looking forward to seeing you in Nov. That will be the first time I've ever been on the track with another SLK55. Lots of C's and E's, No SLK's.
I'm a little confused about the suspension on the 350. I've always thought the 55 ran about 1" lower than the 350 and had higher spring rates. In any event, I suggest you give it a try before you change anything. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I have yet to run against any car over 2500 pounds that is noticably faster through the corners.
Don't worry about the 7 speed. You'll never go back to a standard again. I absolutely love it. The only issue I have with it is that you need to watch the rev limiter. If you bump it (when in manual mode) it won't shift for about a second, it just hangs on the limiter. Keep it off the limiter and it's lightning quick.

I was there in November and didn't see you. I was the only MB there. First run of the day in Blue group, me and a BMW were pressing a Ferrari and he spun it coming out S turns going into the front straight away. Smashed it against the cement infield wall. The guy was a bad driver.
Another Ferrari with racing slicks I was smoking with my street tires.
However, those darn little Miata's and Lotus Elise are so quick through the corners, they always catch me.

Pulled away from most of the bigger engine cars, especially on the front straight-away with the 7-sp shift.
