Default Porsche GT3 vs SLK55 vs e36 M3

Here's a short vid of an e36 chasing a SLK55 and Porsche GT3. looks like fun.

Hm...there must be a huge gap in driving ability...i'm amazed how tight the e36 hung onto the slk and beat it at the end, and how much space there was between the slk and the porsche....

True, but the E36 was stripped down. Who knows how much it weighed. A stock E36 M3 weighs only 3200lbs to begin with. I'm sure it had a modified suspension too. Engine mods + suspension mods + reduced weight would make it much closer to a stock Black Series SLK.

Thats somethig I saw at the track so much. those guys were so proud they where going the same speed as the slk55, but they were so prepped for the track day and my car just had some sticky tyres on. Not even R rated. most of the guys had an f150 with a trailer to put the car on. when i just dropped the top and drive off. I'd love to see a CLK63 black on the track compared with similar vehicles as that would be a true apples and apples.

I agree, even the regular suspension was great for the e36 M3, that's one of the best handling cars out on the track, You see a couple of them on every track day and the modded ones are usually the fastest cars on the track with evo's and sti's. My brother is making his e36 a pure track car, it's turbo charged 450hp+, modified suspenstion, will be stripped down. He told me to take that to the track instead of the SLK. It's a 95' model so that means no traction control and no techno gadgets, all car. I'm not at the point where I'm confortable with the car yet.

Yeah, they are serious about their racing. BMW CCA isn't so bad as their were many people that drove to the track, but nearly everyone from NASA had trailers, I'd almost felt weird driving my car there.

150lbs lighter, better balanced car, probably much stiffer chassis, probably wider tires...

Like Ynot said, the E36 is a great track car. However, I bet that ride is bone-jarring.

an e36 M3 in europe is almost totally different to the detuned e 36 M3 in the states. So it depends on where in the world this took place. BUUUT like it has been stated, on the track theyre all close, but now hit the streets with those cars and see what cars get the most attention!
