Default Audi TT (S-line) vs SLK350

Here's a review by two youngsters about these two cars. Have no idea what they were saying but vid was decently made. The SLK is faster but the Audi looks better IMO.

i think the audi looks like the offspring of a vw bug/dodge magnum mating.

i like how the audi looks, but no comparison to the SLK....i was shopping for the previous generation TT, but the performance is just too lousy.

Everyone knows you have to stand on an Audi's brakes to make it accellerate faster... Think of their refusal to admit a mistake everytime you have to step on the brake to shift out of park.

Better yet, everytime you see a spoiler on a TT, and heaver springs because as Audi says, "There is no engineering or design mistake, NOTHING was overlooked, it's Driver Error" that a (first generation) TT takes flight over 90 MPH. (Besides, Audi adds, American's especially shouldn't be going that fast... Why the Z rated tires then, Halmut?)

The TT does look very nice, except for the horse-collar turned ant-eater nose. It is out of proportion on this car. I get the feeling that the designer LOVED the 1984 Ford Taurus.

Kudo's to Audi for making a Prince out of a Golf. Especially the interior, it is fantastic! Audi has really brought elegance to car design, and the TT has stayed far closer to the show cars then many companies would do. Just look how Mercedes chickened out on the first generation SLK and Porsche on the Boxster (man I LOVED those fans in the show car!)

Too bad Audi acts like Ford, only far, far more arrogant, when covering up their gaffs.

Mercedes is a far more careful car company. When the CLK-GTR's were doing the P-51 Mustang impressions, they wisely kept quiet and said in a hushed tone "we're looking into it."

I've ALWAYS liked the look of the Audi TT coupe. The newer TT, still looks dated. The nose looks out of place and terrible.

i liked the old TT's, but i really think Audi have done very well with the new ones. The new TT is excellent and a real rival to the SLK. however i still think the merc badge just holds that extra status still over the four rings!

I like the new designs of Audi's, especially the R8, can't say much about it's reliability or anything else, never owned one or driven one. There's alot here in Colorado b/c of the quattro system.

Of my clients that own them, they are reasonably reliable. The only things I've heard really bad about them, is even if it's a recall, unless you own an A8, no loaner for you while they service it.

TT is built on Golf chassis, which is a pretty strong bit of equipment, and wears well. Quattro is usally more reliable then most all wheel drive systems, but any car with an AWD system is heavier and more prone to service requirements then regular.

AND NO! The TT is not really a match for the SLK. The standard TT is front wheel drive, and FWD never handles as well as rear or all wheel drive. The Quattro one, well it probably is.

My brother-in-law has an older quattro A4 and it's been problematic, one problem after another and is expensive to repair, he got rid of it, I never had the chance to drive it. I've heard the older Audi's had issues but the new ones are pretty reliable.

Yeah, I know the TT isn't a match for the SLK but just had to compliment on the new design, I think it looks good.

...Ducking the flying brick from YNOT...

Maybe because it looks dramatic in black in comparison to the blend into the grey road, sedan silver on the SLK....

I think it's b/c of the non AMG-pkg, the Audi looks more sporty.
