Can anyone tell me if they have changed the head lamp bulbs in the projection halogen lights.
Never looked at the car before in the dark with the lights on till last night the lights were so yellow looked awful I would like to know of a good white light H7 bulb and if anyone has changed them and did it make much different thank you.

I have the bi-xenon headlights, so didn't need to change those bulbs. However, having those, the bulbs in my foglights looked very yellow, and I have the set to light up when I unlock the car and it annoyed me that they were so yellow. So, I replaced the standard H7 foglight bulbs (that's what they are in UK-spec AMG foglights) with superwhite bulbs. Check out the link in my signature for the bulbs I used (just over £5 on eBay). I don;t know what they would be like as headlights, but they certainly look far whiter than the standard halogen H7 bulbs that used to be in my foglights! :tu:

I had 1999 lumen LEDs in my old SLK. I probably still have them in the garage if you want to try them (I'm in Norwich most Saturday mornings).

The sub 2000 lumen figure is very important as xenons and LEDs under 2000 lumens don't need self levelling or washers.

They have ballasts which have to be packed into the back of the headlamp but they are 4800K colour temperature so very white and, while you still get the range issues with the extremely sharp cut-off of the projectors but the light you do get is crisp, white and 100% legal.

You can get LEDs in H7 headlamp fitment up to 4000 lumens but apart from being even brighter, don't do anything for the range problem.

Couldn't agree more.
When set for maximum range & on high beam the range is pathetic, so much so that I never get flashed by on-coming motorists.
However I have yet to re-set the maximum range which from another post I gather can be carried out, with the caveat that it might result in an MOT failure.

I can only echo Still Learning's post - very helpful. When I picked up my SLK last Oct and wasn't sure the headlights were on they were that bad - especially when I had Bi-Xenons in my old E CLass!!!

I fitted Osram Night Breakers which are considerably better than the standard MB halogens and adjusted the headlight upwards to give greater vision / distance - whilst of course remaining within the boundaries of the law.
