Default Disable passenger airbag?

I sometimes travel with my two small dogs in a hard-shell dog crate on the front seat.

I'm concerned what would happen if the airbag were to deploy -- the front of the crate is only a few inches from the glove box.

Is there any way to disable the passenger airbag (without the "babysmart" seat)?

I don't know if you can puchase just the transponder from the SmartSeat to disable passenger side airbag.

This is a pad we use when we put a DAS on the passenger seat for test drives, you can try asking your dealership to sell you one but as you can see it has a 'Z' PN# and they might be unable to even order it.

Thanks, Dan. A side unrelated question -- do you think I need to remove the smarttop unit before I go in for a Service B? I have an add-a-fuse installed to power the unit. If I remove that, I'm assuming the smarttop won't 'pass-through' the signals from the input line to the CARBUS.

I know to at least to disable the smarttop in software. But wow, what a pain if I have to remove it just for a service. thanks.

I am not Dan, but if I may....

I would just disable the SmartTop using the instructions to make it inactive and invisible to DAS (without removing the SmartTop).

1. The technician will not open the fuse box for regular Service B routinely.
2. They wouldn't know what device is attached to the add-a-circuit.

I've brought my car for service A in the 280 in the past, and recently with the 55 with the smartTop disabled and it is undetectable. Moreover, on the prior 280, they were able to do some software update for cold starting based on a service recall.
