| A couple of weeks ago, when we had blindly hot weather - well hot for Cumbria!!! My engine fan came on, and since then has always been on, even when it was raining like nobody business for several days. Anyway took it in and have had the engine fan replaced, so just thought I would mention it to ya'll. I have a SLK200 with 7 500 miles on the clock, so not like it's been working hard. Only thing I can think of is the several runs round the Nurburgring with only 300 miles on the clock, may not have helped!!!!

| Ah that happens quite often clutch goes if memory serves me correct. Good work with the Nurburgring how did it fare?

| Perhaps it's not the fan but an electrical switch problem, i.e., a stuck switch.

Curious for more info of how the clutch going affects the engine fan becoming faulty?? Just worried in case the clutch may go, as it is behaving itself at the moment!!! But did have clutch problems on the R170 - a part of the pedal dropped off!!!! Nurburgring was fantastic, want to go back now that the car is run in, since I was being very good and not pushing it. Did manage to overtake a Polo - though everything else overtook me!!!! Didn't bother clocking times, since the car was soo new but defiantely under 15 minutes!!!!

| Glad the Nurburgring went well. Dont worry about the clutch i mean the one inside the fan housing not the not your gearbox's.

![]() Not sure if anything came up on the star diag for them though ... ![]() But as much as I moan about the Sales team at my local MB garage the service team are just fantastic. I've been in several times with little issues and they will willingly look at anything - whether their star diag says there's something wrong or not.

| This is my first post, I think . Hello everyone!!!!I believe this may be covered in one of the TSBs. There is a known fault with part of the wiring loom/s either a main one or the one that comes with the fan. For some reason the routing of the loom, or the way it is fixed, causes a break in the wiring which ends up as a short circuit leaving tne fan running all the time. I had the dash warning in blue "cooolant - visit workshop" some months ago and they changed the fan + sensors. I didnt have the loom problem but they explained the TSB to me, as a by the way, during the handover after the fan install. Who are your local dealers Bev, I'm on the lookout for a new one. Dealer that is!!!!. Portzy. Last edited by Portzy; 10-03-2006 at 02:56 AM. |

My local dealer is Mercedes Benz of Carlisle - probably not that close to you though But for anyone else in Cumbria I can recommend them - but if you end up with Nigel Ball as your Sales Advisor, just move swiftly away and try and attract Stuart Patons attention - he's so much more pleasant to deal with and soo on the ball!!!
