| Looks like a new hire orientation video. Man, if I watched that on my first day of employment, I'd find it hard to not bust out laughing. Cheezy!

| Oh dear, perhaps they should just stick to cars. I don't remember ever seeing that and I'm fairly sure I'd remember since I'd have vomited all over my suit.

| I certainly agree that the video was not made by Daimler AG, Mercedes Benz USA, nor by any other Mercedes-affiliated organization. "It's not their style" of sales and promotion. This raises a question: who made it and why? These things aren't cheap to make. Here's a wild guess. I know that advertising agencies develop things like this to try to sell the "theme" they are suggesting to prospective clients, like Mercedes. My guess is that this was a advertising agency "theme piece" that Mercedes obviously didn't buy into. Nice music, though.

Yeah, I agree, but it sure smells like something "Daimler Chrysler" would have done! | |

| Today, I had to visit my local MB dealer to get a new set of tires installed on my C 320. I spoke to a salesman who has been there virtually forever, and got on this site and played the mystery video for him on his office computer. The salesman had not seen this particular video before, but had seen many very similar ones. He identified this video as one that would be played as service and parts employees would be gathering in a room for a training session on a regional or national level. He particularly could identify it as an MB training video for dealers' employees by the use of the term "CSI" which isn't well explained on the video. He said it referred to "Customer Satisfaction Index" which is compiled from responses to questionnaires sent out by dealers after service has been done on a customer's car. He was able to tell that it was over a year old (perhaps as much as two years) as more recent videos of this type use the term "CSI, CS1" -- the latter three letters meaning Customer Service #1. He said that the use of such terms as "kick ass" and Japs" was not unusual in videos of this type, meant for dealers' employees only. Finally, he said that MBUSA typically has these types of videos removed when they find their way to utube and such. While he said he would have nothing to do with its removal, don't be surprised if it is gone before long. This guy knows of which he speaks in the Mercedes world. For example, he showed me pictures of the '09 SLK before anybody else did. I believe him.

| That sounds about right Dole its the sort of yuck that does get shown, as i said before I've not seen this either but I'm convinced its MB commissioned because of the terminology.

| DanSlk: I would not be so confident in my statements in my post above, except for the fact that I am a director in our local section (chapter) of the Mercedes Benz Club of America, and our section has a very close relationship with our local dealer. So I know that the guy I spoke with is a very long term employee at that dealership, and is very much "in the know" about all such things. I chose him to ask while waiting for new tires to be put on my C for this reason. I have 100% confidence in anything "Mercedes" this guy says, and he is not shy about saying "I don't know" if he does not. When he says he does know, he does. Actually, the video makes a bit of sense, in light of the fact that Mercedes has taken some real lumps in the past five or so years in reliability ratings here in the US. And the Mercedes Benz Club of America forum (like this one but broader in scope) on which I am a moderator had too many posts of shoddy dealer service a few years ago to be disregarded. My source thought the video is part of a one or two year old US effort by MBUSA to correct this latter problem. Judging how the posts complaining about shoddy dealer service have dropped in the past two years or so, something has succeeded. If not this video, SOMETHING. I do also know that, at my local dealer now, service reps who do not get a good CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) are out the door.

| I don't disagree, just the opposite in fact. It must have come out of MB at some point.

| DanSlk: I know that you were not disagreeing with my report. I was merely trying to put the video in perspective in light of problems with Mercedes products and dealers starting shortly after the year 2000, up until a couple of years ago here in the US. I had heard that Mercedes Benz USA (MBUSA) had really been attacking the quality issues on a high priority basis. The video may be a bit "over the top" but it was designed to "speak to" service and parts employees of dealerships, as part of a larger quality improvement drive.
