Default Tire Recommendation for new wheel setup

Hey guys,

I just purchases a new set of DCR CATALUNYA WHEELS: 19x8.5, 19x9.5", BRUSHEDALUMINUM CENTER, CHROME LIP FINISH and wanted some advise on tire brands I should consider. I'm putting them on a 09 SLK 350 which should be here within a month. I ordered the wheels from D2 Autosports and they told me the Michelin Pilot sport tires run a bit larger than they advertize and would not work with this size wheel. They indicated with this offset etc that the wheel might rub. Therefore if this is the case then can anyone out there who has this setup or similar offer some advice on tire brands that will give me the smoothest ride possible without fitment issues? Thanks for any info.

Has anyone ran the Falken fk 452's? These seem to be great tires at a good price. Quite, smooth, and good handling.

I'm running Falken 452s on mine. Tried the 235 in the front but was rubbing a bit. This is after Eibach springs. Switched over to 225 in the front. Running 265 in the back.

How much did you pay for the Catalunyas?

For what it's worth, I've been running Falken 451s (which have been updated and now designated as 452s) on my Honda S 2000 for some time now. Those S 2000s eat tires! Mine went through the OEM Bridgestone SO2s in less than 10K miles. The tires have 20K miles on them and look like there is at least another 10K to go. They have given me good wet and dry traction, quiet and smooth ride, and good cornering grip. And they cost less than many competing tires.

I'l try to pm you.

As for the 225's this is what has been recomended for my tire sizes and those wheels: FALKEN fk452/-235/35 fronts & 265/30-19 rears. Isn't the 235 a bigger tire? I'm not a tire expert.

This is what I've heard about the tire and think its a good choice but I'm wondering about the fitment and rubbing problems if nay with this tire and this wheel set up: 8.5X19 9.5X19 andFALKEN fk452 - 235/35 & 265/30-19

Guess you have to post some more...

I had 235/35/19 in the front before... was rubbing a bit on bumps and potholes. This is with Eibach springs though. Had to change to 225/35/19 instead, Falken FK-452s.

Make sure to post pics when you get them!

I think the biggest factor to consider what tire to buy is what you are going to be doing with the car. If it's just a daily driver the pilots will be fine.

I'm looking at RE01's or AO48's for mine.

I'm also looking at a set of these:
