| Hmm, so in Louisiana, on a '06 350, it's roughly $1400 to buy a years "CPO" type of extended warranty from the dealer. I *think* it makes a difference if you buy it "in warranty" vs "out of warranty", but have never been in that situation. |

| I asked from the local MB. There's an extended warranty that they call MSRP - mainly covers the same thing as the original 4-year-warranty. Covers until 100K, but do not know the time factor. Not cheap (around $1400).

| I'm in the same dilemma. My 2005 SLK 55 (in service date, Dec 2004, 7300 miles) has a little over five months left on the original factory warranty. I've never purchased a extended warranty of any kind. I'm thinking, this might be the exception. I have no plans to sell my car anytime soon. When I do sell, if I have some warranty remaining, it should help make selling easier and I might recoup some of the cost of the warranty in the selling price. Any thoughts, pro and con?

| So I negotiated a extra year of warranty on my '350, just because I consider it cheap insurance for a car where bits and bobs are damned expensive when they break - I know that the MB CPO warranty is transferable to a "new" owner, so I figured even if I decide to sell it, it will retain value. I know that the salesguy I talked too was saying that he expected to see the resale value of the '05s start to drop as the in service dates started rolling around in Nov / Dec 2009. Talk to your dealer, though, as the warranty I ended up with still have the 100k limit on it, even though it's 2 years in duration. I've only got ~18k on the car, and I seriously doubt I could do 80k miles in three years! (actually, I should be so lucky as to be able to try!!) |

| If you guys are finding "official" Mercedes extended warranties like that I bought on our C 320 that adds three years and up to 100K miles for $1400, I say buy it. When I bought mine for the C, the local dealer wanted over $2300, and so did other dealers. Someone recommended Courtesy Motors (an authorized MB dealer) in Encino, California for a discounted price on the same thing. I recall the person I spoke with there was named Lisa Learbaum. I bought the MB extended warranty there for about $1300 or a little over. I intend to call them about one of these for our '07 SLK 280 which was new last November.

| Anyone considering an extended warranty may want to check with their local dealership for current discounts. Today I received a set of service coupons from my local dealership and one of them is for $200 off an extended warranty service contract. I'd also be interested in hearing opinions on these extended warranties. I've never purchased one and was trying to decide if it is worthwhile for someone that plans to keep an SLK well beyond the standard warranty. |

Dolebludger - sorry for the confusion - I ended up - as part of my purchase - with an '06 with factory warranty left, and CPO coverage up to 100k. As part of the deal, I negotiated an additional year of coverage, so I end up with remainder of the factory (11/05 service date), plus 1 year after factory expires up to 100k miles as CPO coverage, plus 1 additional year "CPO" up to 100k. The "CPO / MSRP" warranty for an '06 350 was ~$1300 for 1 year / up to 100k.

| Elite SLK World Member | I'm also considering an extended warranty for my 2005 SLK350. The milage extension means very little to me since I only have 13,500 miles in 3 1/2 years. Adding two years does appeal since the R-172 may be released then and I'll probably order one if I like the design. |

| If you think $1300 is bad, you will be even more unhappy when you get a quote for your SLK55. I would not be surprised if it is over $3K. |

| I've been surprised before. Lately, prices are out of control, other than home prices, BIG pickup trucks, and SUVs here in the USA. I'll check around and then make a decision. I spoke to an employee at Wal*Mart today. She stated she's had more price increases this year than anytime in the past ten years. I just hope they're justified and prices aren't being raised just to gouge.

55's tend to be used less and are brought more so by people who stick to schedules and proper maintenance so less risk and lower cost.

| Elite SLK World Member | -1- You think Walmart prices are going up? We are about to start building a new house (I need more garage space for my SLK). The costs of nearly all of the materials have been escalating nearly every month. per pipe and wire and anything made with petroleum (asphalt shingles) have been particularly hard hit. |

| I'm in the same boat as most of you as well. @ 46,600 at the moment I called my dealership where i service my SLk350, here is what i got: 1 yr - up to 75,000 miles = $3099 1 yr - up to 100,000 miles = $3984 2 yr - up to 75,000 miles = $3542 2 yr - up to 100,000 miles = $4605 3 yr - up to 75,000 miles = $4071 3 yr - up to 100,000 miles = $5313 I am planning on keeping the car for at least 1-2 years, so i would think the 2yr 75K is best value for me. What do you guys think? |

| Wow - those are a hell of a lot higher than I would have expected. Do you know what warranty they are trying to sell you? |

That's was the $64,000 question. My wife and I contracted to have a new home built last May and we moved in the third week of March, this year. Within three months of commitment, the market changed. Existing houses decreased in price and with escalting prices, I assume the cost of our home might be more now then it was last year. Although I thought the price was HIGH last year. Anyone building a custom home is at the mercy of the builder and their competition. The real value is for unsold, existing homes, especially those that have been on the market for months to a year plus. Good luck with the new home.

The Warranty they quoted me above was for a FULL Mercedes warranty equal to the standard 4yr - 50k. I called another 2 dealerships, and they quoted me the above PLUS nearly $1000 more per each package!!!!! Making a 2yr 75K warrenty cost $4300!!!!! < that is insane!
