| Check engine light came on, made a quick run into the dealer to get it scanned - yup another new MAF in my future, this'll be my second one under warranty *L*. Tech said they've had a few replaced now on the M113...maybe it's a Canadian thing! P.S. Neither this time nor the first has the car shown any driveability issues...weird.

| Sorry to hear Bill. How many miles on the odometer? Do you check and "dry clean" the green air filters every quarter (4 months)?

| sorry to hear that also. were you by chance running green,k&N, or sports filters? just asking as my ex-350 had a sports filter dissolve into the maf, but it was caught in time before any stuff got into the maf.

| Then i'm inclined to think its not the MAF mate, MAF Fault = No Power as i'm sure you know.

I agree Dan so I asked the tech that very question, and he said the MAF signal may just be out of spec enough somewhere in its range to trip the light, but not affect driveability...I dunno. I've had MAF issues with other cars that basically left them undriveable.

| Doesn't really work that way with a MAF, it compensates until it craps out and they turn to mush like you very correctly say. Sounds like some sort of issue hiding under the MAF error, if its not effecting performance I'd be inclined to just replace it and go but i suspect its going to return at some point. A good way to test MAF function is to disconnect it and see how the car behaves, equal or more performance means a bad MAF and worse performance means good MAF.

| Thanks Dan, I'll try that in the next day or so when I get some slack time. And if it keeps happening, well it's a good excuse to trade it in on an SLK63 when the warranty runs out in a couple years!

| OK, I'll settle for one of those too - as long as it's still got a great honkin' stump pullin' loud bellowin' politically incorrect V8 lump still sitting in the engine bay!

| Ditto on the replacement - completely fireproof justification, on the MAF issue test with a warm engine and drive up and down the street a few times, you don't want to go very far without the MAF but sitting at idle wont give you a valid result.
