Panorama Roof Spy Pictures Again

Since my 2004 SL 500 and my '06 SLK 350 are both Firemist Red Metallic, and the SL has the Panorama Roof, I have contemplated painting the center section of the SLK roof panel, excepting the roof rails above the door windows, gloss black, to approximate the Pano roof. The one thing that has stopped me is the fear that the SLK, being much shorter, would look somewhat choppy compared to the SL. After seeing these photos, I'm no longer sure that that is the case. I still can't make up my mind, though! Dinoman

I'm guessing that when this comes out, it would be possible to retrofit on my 05 SLK. Would you say it would be worth the cost (guessing at least $2,000 -$3,000 USD)? The panorama roof on the SL is one of the top features that we like.

Has anyone seen the SLK black? Doesn't that have a panoramic roof (without the vario obviously)?

Yea after i posted it and looked at the pic more carefully, it did look a bit like carbon to me. - sorry about that (i also mentioned without vario which means fixed)

is this a roof with black paint or real lightweight carbon?

i am guessing that this wont be offered on the amg becuase it sppils the weight distribution, something similar ti the c63 were you can order a panaromic roof.

The Panorama roof on the SL is about $2k from the factory. I would think that ordering the entire center section (with the roof rails in primer, no doubt), then removing the old top, painting and installing the new one would be quite expensive. I think that, if you really want the option, it would make more sense to order it on a new SLK. The retrofit would probably be prohibitively expensive, and it wouldn't add measurably to the value of your '05 SLK. It is good looking, though! Dinoman

I like the looks of the standard roof better than the carbon fibre or the panoramic roof.
