| One thing I find missing in Automobile magazine are actual timed road tests. Instead, they merely report manufacturers' ratings for things like 0 to 60 mph times. In my personal experience, Mercedes' ratings like this for their cars are way too slow, compared to actual experience. For example, our C 320 is rated at 6.9 seconds 0 to 60. Yet, I have made this run in her in the low 6's. Our SLK 280 is rated by Mercedes for the same run at 6.1 seconds (not 5.1 as the article states). Yet, with the "shift at redline" feature on our seven speed auto, I've made it in the fairly low 5's. Auto magazines that actually road test the cars on which they report have also consistently gotten better times than manufacturer's rating on all Mercedes. Based on this, I predict that when the new 300 hp SLK350 gets into the hands of Car and Driver and Road and Track magazine testers/reporters, we will see some 0 to 60 times well down into the 4's.

| Wow, I think that's the best SLK review yet. Thanks for posting it.

Seriously though, I suspect you are right - and I can't wait to see what happens with the 55 - I can't imagine MB wouldn't really be pressed to keep a bigger differential between the two. | |

| What's really sweet on the 09 SLK 350 is putting your foot into it. At about 4000 rpm it really starts to scream and takes off like a rocket.

| UK-C200: I was inquiring of our local dealer's sales manager (jokingly) when I could get an "SLK 63 AMG". This was about last December, as I recall. He said, "give me a call around August, '08". Well, now it's July, and still no "leaks" about such a thing. Guess he was a bit optimistic. Yet, my question was motivated by Mercedes' obvious abandonment of SOHC, 3 valve engines, which the 55 still has. Just a guess, but I would predict a new DOHC, 4 valve engine for the SLK AMG in a year or so.
