Talking SmartTop Roof Module Updates for 09 SLKs

Last Tuesday Stefan of Wilhelmy IT Inc let me know if I would send him my SmartTop Module they would upgrade it with the latest software including fixes for the 09 US models. Namely, closing all the windows when closing the top with the interior roof control and adding back the double-click of the roof control to raise or lower the windows. If the changes did not work he was going to send a cable to connect the module to a laptop so he could watch the car/module data-stream over the internet.

Well GREAT NEWS! The changes work just great. Closing the roof from inside now also closes all 4 windows. Double-clicking the roof control closes all open windows or lowers the front windows. Life is good.
The SmartTop module is a must buy for any SLK but now even more so for US buyers of 2009 models.
I'm really impressed with Stefan's support and response to this problem. Thanks also to JBanks for getting the ball rolling in the first place and following up on it.

update:

Hello Jeff,
yes, we got it fixed with David's help. He mailed his module, I installed the new firmware and he just reported back that everything works fine now on his 09.
I will be out of office from tonight til Sunday July the 20th. If any forum members want their module updated, please don't mail anything before the 20th.

Really great job White Rabbit!!!!!

Stefan told me anybody ordering a new module will get the upgrade from now on. Might want to order it directly from Mods4Cars to be sure you're not getting some 'old' stock from somewhere else.

Thanx. Do "we" get some kind of discount if we order direct from Mod4cars? I've seen the prices vary from their distributer channel. It certainly not worth the few bucks savings if I order from their distributer and have to send it back to get it modified.

I applaud Stefan and his team for a great customer service and support for their products

Question: what would happen if someone installs the updated SmartTop module on the 2005 to 2008 model year pre-facelift vehicles? Would the function at the center console roof control button remain the same?

We need a Guinea pig to give it a try. I've already done my bit.
It should not make a difference but until someone buys one we can't be sure.

Happy to report I now have an updated module. Sent mine in on Thursday and received it back today. I am getting pretty good at opening that canbus cover! As reported by white rabbit, the one touch console button now closes all windows. I even tried shutting engine (after stop of course), pulling key, getting out and the roof close continues and windows close. Programmed speed at 30 mph for roof open/close while driving. Though Stefan was on vacation, Sven took care of me. new updated verion is 3.22. Great customer service for sure. Any questions, please feel free to ask myself and I am sure also white rabbit.
