We are back home! I am waking up at 3am still, unfortunately it is not the 10 am that my body thinks it is. I will write a full review with 500 or so piccies, hopefully, in the next week. If there wasn't so much to do around the house I would do it this weekend. We had a fabulous time, and since it is really the beautiful wife's car, I am not in the doghouse, because I successfully drove it 2300KM and didn't put a single ding or scratch on it. The driving it was the easy part, but parking and valet parking caused me a large amount of stress! So, when I am washing it 6 months from now and I find that door ding I can with clear conscious give her that mental look of I told you to not park next to anyone. I have been married long enough to know if you actually give the look you are dead meat!jc

Zermatt is beautiful. Did you get up the railway to Gornergrat? .. from a very rainy Grindelwald! By the way, how did you get your car back to the USA, how long does it take?

It was rainy both days in Zermatt, so we didn't take the mountain trains, just the one from Brig to Zermatt. Which was the only time we actually saw the Matterhorn. We didn't go to Grindelwald, but did go to Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen nearby. Beautiful. You drop the car at an E.H. Harms office (in our case Frankfurt) and then they ship the car and eventually (I am guessing 6 to 7 weeks) it is redelivered to you at your local dealership. I will let you know when it actually shows up. (There are about a dozen spots that you can drop the car at no charge to ship it home, London, Paris, several spots in Germany, a couple in Holland and Denmark, there is a charge for drops in Italy and some other spots).

The wife and I just looked at ALL the pictures. Very nice (but there are a couple you should edit out ) I also noted your comment said HeilgenBlutt, I think, but I think it was HeiligenBlut (holy blood).Your pictures reminded us of way back to 1972. We were returning from the Peace Corps in Ghana, West Africa and routed the plane trip home through Europe. Picked up a new VW camper there and shipped it back to US. After buying the van, we had $600 dollars left to our names. We intended to get teaching jobs in Bavarian and travel during vacations, but ended up refusing the job offered (the crummiest of the schools we interviewed at) and just touring around. We traveled 12,000 miles in 3 months on our $600! Didn't stay in such nice hotels as you Although the campsites were really quite nice. Came home with $75 dollars to our name and the van which we eventually put 110,000 miles on.I remember camping at Grindelwald. The showers there were sort of open air affairs. The kind where you can see people's feet and faces, but the rest, thank goodness, was screened from view. And it was COLD! You had to use tokens to fire up the gas water heater and I didn't have enough. Brrr!!! We enjoyed Neuschwanstein and I was expecting more pictures from you there. All the driving in the Alps was fun, but not as much fun in the stick shift van as it would be in the SLK. Maybe our NEXT SLK will be a European Delivery. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I should delete several out of focus shots, but I haven't had time. I am sure that I have misspelled more than one thing. At Mad King Ludwigs castle they won't let you take photos on the inside they want to sell photos and books you know. Most nights our hotel was from 100 to 150 $. The exception was the Kempinski Grand Hotel in St Moritz which I believe was $350. Lucerne was about $240 for a Best Western, good grief. Doing the European delivery was a lot of fun. It will make the memories associated with this car unique. Normally, when we travel we buy a lot of stuff, but with the car space issues and the prices of things in Europe it was very easy to avoid temptation! jc
