n00b Member, argh!

Greetings SLK enthusiasts!

Stumbled upon this mb and should have expected to find one dedicated like it is. most things I have passion for have a mb out there somewhere!

Been driving a 06 MX5 ( Mazda Miata ) for a couple years, leased. Well as that lease expired recently, I decided it was time to upgrade to the ultimate, as promotions recently enabled this class of car to be considered! w00t. leased a 09 SLK350 Saturday, 6/28/08.

Mars Red w beige Leather. has the AMG kit, Multimedia and Premium Sound

OMG. I couldn't be happier. Its everything I had hoped it would be and more. Had it back to the dealer, Crown Euro cars in St. Petersburg, FL, today, for the promised window tint that I got thrown in as part of the deal. Looks sweet with the tint. have been a dedicated Zaino user on the Miata, so, ordered some of Sal's new stuff, the Z-CS and some Z6. Anyone use the Z-CS yet? Can I get away with using that alone, instead of layering the Z-5?

Cheap, and take less than a minute to put on, easy storage etc. I park in the FL sun at work.

Well, as its leased ( 39 month ) I guess any mods will be out of the question, but heck, it s a daily driver, etc, so.. and damn! Its fast! I love the combo of the glued to the road ( like the Miata was ) but with a Mercedes ride. Love the premum sound system too, especially the SD card slot for music, although I wish it supported bigger than 2GB cards. maybe future firmware updates ? that Or i'll grab a iPod for perm station in the glove box.

Anyway, glad to have found this mb; lots of great info already.

I'm a sysadmin for the Dept. Of Veterans Affairs, so snaps to any vets out there ( Navy here... 20 years ago though

errr.. i googled it and found the site. my fob does the roof now..although I have to hold the buttons..is that new in 09...so the smarttop helped that..or.. the smarttop simplifies it to 1 click?

check out first link. allows among other thing putting your top up or down while taveling less than 35 mphs. also uses rf instead of ir so you do not have to stand next to your car. check it out. only problem, is that currently the one touch console button does not shut all the windows. mods4cars working issue. but remote works great. many other features.

Welcome Xbarbarian.

I've used the Z-CS only once. I'm used to doing the z5, Z2 layering but plan on doing more of the Z-CS in the next few weeks.

SmartTop module is quite functional and allows 3 clicks on the key fob to open and close roof + windows.

2009 models have some idiosyncracy with the center console roof control button (as programed by MB) in that the windows do not close if you use the center console roof button to close the roof.

Hi and welcome. Nice SLK you have there, great list of options. Need a few pics, not enough 2009s around. I saw my first 2009 SLK last week at the local dealer. SD slot limited to 2GB, that sux. Curious how much use it will get? I'm a big satellite radio fan, and a few CDs. Get the SmartTop module once the manufacturer gets the 2009 issue resolved. Let us know how the capoptop works out. Very nice!. That red is super hot and sporty. Tint looks perfect, what %? Did the SLK 55 wheels come with the car, or did you "wheel" and deal? Again, great car.

on the tint, to be honest, I dont know. The dealer had it done by a local shop, they didnt provide any docs with it. think I'll call them tomorrow to find out.

the AMG wheels are part of the AMG Appearance Pkg on 09. ( Sport Pkg ) the paddles, the lowered suspension, side skirts, and front air dam...although I'm not sure I see that as different. So, a 55 with a 6 instead of the tasty 8.

I'm not really a fan of light coloured leather but this car looks great imo.

Great to see a "sports pack" (AMG Pack) on a facelift. Looking good

Unfortunately we only get the normal sports pack here (the option with the red stitching, black headliner etc...)
