Don, I believe for the US spec version, the new 55 gets the new 5-spoke wheels and the 350 with AMG sport pack gets the old 55 wheels.

Nice car! I rolled up on one of these (red just like yours) the other day here in socal and thought it was an AMG but turns out it was just a 350 like yours. I was kind of taken aback since it had all of the amg goodies but no quad exhaust or badging. Anywho welcome!

Congrats on the car. It looks great. In fact, I had to reread your post because I thought it was a 55 at first. .

Anyways, I just Zaino'ed my car again this week. I tried the costly Z-CS. I gotta say... I was disappointed. Perhaps I put on too much but it seemed to leave some streaking even after a day of drying. I think I'm gonna stick to the classic Z2 with ZFX and spray with Z6. That always seems to give me the best results.

XBarbarian:

Welcome from Yukon, Oklahoma:

I noticed that your '09 does not have that blacked out center "chin" below the front bumper that all the pics of the '09 seem to show. Rather, your lower front "chin" is all body colored, as it SHOULD be! That blacked-out frontal area is the main reason some of us are hesitant about the '09s.

How did you do it? Was it the AMG pkg? Something you had done? Well, in any event, YOUR '09 looks great!

eeek..dsb- the Z-CS streaked? Sounds like my experience when I tried the supposedly uber Z-8 Grand Finale Spray. I could never get it to not streak. I like the Z-6 spray way more. never streaks, easy to use. Well, should be here any day.. Zaino is slacking on providing shipping info. I thought they used to email or atleast have the site show that the order had shipped at least. ordered Sunday, maybe tomorrow ( Thursday ). I'll try to go light, see how it goes, but if it's like the Z-8 experience, then ya, back to Z-2 with ZFX. Wiping down with Z-6 didnt clean up the streaking?

Dolebludger - ya, it has to be the Sport Pkg, It includes the AMG Air dam.

Thanks againa ll for the welcomes. nice to be a part of this 1337 community! <3

Wiping down with Z6 did the trick. But, I wouldn't call it wiping... more like rubbing, lots of it, over and over again. I'll try Z-CS once more but so far I don't like it.

PS, I think the SLK55 has the blacked out chin. The SLK350 is color matched.

mcat - I haven't burned one, but i will check it out.. the burning mass mp3's to a dvd. that would hold a sh*t ton! like 1000 songs-ish. but Im holding out for the USB dongle and a flash stick. Solid state ftw~

I tried the Z-CS once with very light application (when in doubt, do not add; 1 spray only per panel) and there was no streaking although I am used to the Z5,Z6,Z2,Z6 combination.

You may run into some REALLY long loading times burning mass MP3's onto DVD's. I've had MP3 CD capable stereos in my past couple cards and it seems that most of them take quite a while to load up. Once loaded and playing they're fine skipping between tracks and such, no dead air there, just on the initial load. I'm going for the USB adapter myself, with either my scandisk sansa MP3 player or a flash stick. Congratz on the 350, I'll be joinin' those ranks myself in a couple weeks when she gets in. I can't see the pics though, stupid firewalls at work.

I've never used Z5. Have you noticed a difference with it? Or has it always been part of the process whereas you wouldn't know otherwise?

I use Z5 as a "base", this may be useful (according to Sal Zaino) to cover minute swirls (especially on darker colored vehicles). I actually like Z5 better than Z2Pro as I think it has more "filler" type quality. They now have Z5Pro (I think this has a faster drying time than previous plain Z5). I do like the Z5,Z6,Z2Pro,Z6 routine every 3 to 4 months. In between is just plain carwash and Z6.
