Default Self Introduction

Thought since I've been posting in multiple threads today I should introduce myself on here. Name's Joseph, car will be '09 SLK 350 very soon. I'm a nurse in south texas.

I came upon the SLK quite literally by accident when researching sports cars. I've been planning this purchase the past 2 years. Originally I had planned on getting one of the new Corvettes, as I've always loved them since I was a teenager. However, after reading about the SLK online I went to a dealership "just to check it out". Well, my desire for a corvette was instantly engulfed by the flames of passion for the SLK. I may eventually get an old '75 stingray and restore it (which will be a learning process for me), but for the time being I'm excited as I've never been before about taking delivery in a few weeks.

I just got my nursing license in january and have been talking to a dealership since then. I wanted a Caspian blue '08 but couldn't find one with black leather interior, so I had to settle for a Capri blue '09.

What I will be driving: Capri blue metallic 350, black leather, Premium pckg, Heating pckg, 35% rear window and 20% side window tint. Will be putting Green filters in promptly as long as the ones from the past couple years are still compatible in the 350.

So that's me in a nutshell... hey, how did I get in this giant nutshell?? Good to meet ya'll and I'm sure I'll be seein' more of you on the forums and hopefully drives if there's enough TX folks here.

Hi and welcome. I'm a Corvette fan also, but I can't prove it by the cars I drive. Enjoy the new SLK.

Thanks again, and updated profile Didn't think I should put it on there till I took delivery of the car, don't wanna jinx it. Then again, never been superstitious before!

How does your clearshield protective film work? My uncle had something I thought was similar on an old car of his and when he got a rock ding in the door the clear film stuff started peeling off. I didn't get that cause I was unsure, but I may get it after-the-fact if that's even possible, if it's worth it.

Welcome to the forum, Joseph. Glad to see another Texan on here! I'm in Burleson [just south of Fort Worth].

Let me know about some of those places you mentioned in the other post about hill country drives....I need to go try some out.

it is just a protective clear film that covers the mirrors, hood, headlights, bumper and grill. makes cleaning bugs easier. if a rocks wants through, nothing will stop it, but the little ones won't damage your paint. prices range per model anywhere from 300 to 1000 based on brand and complexity of applying. you can check clearshield.com i believe is the url. i am not affiliated with them. hell, i ain't affiliated with no one!

Welcome from Oregon. You are going to love the 09 350. Not that I am bias, but I take ours out every chance I get. Love the way it drives and the look is just a plus. Enjoy the ride.

Lone wolf, no club. That's an old 50's car club thing. Always got a chuckle hearing it.

Lol thanks! Ditto on the lone wolf thing, though my fiancee would try to disagree, but she's ok so I don't mind. I just called the dealership to check on the status, and they had put it priority 1 without telling me so it's actually going to be in-port July 12th barring any problems at sea, and in my hands approx the 15th. Holy cow now THATS what I call good news

About the TX hill country drives, gonna shoot you a PM just so you have it in your inbox to reply to. Remind me and I'll fill you in I discovered them because of the motorcycle but they'll do just dandy for a drop top

start thinking about a few mods. most common, clear side markers, smarttop ( wait until they get the 09 issue fixed), 3rd brake light flasher (from lenny). OEM MB Plexiglass Windscreen. (too expensive at dealer $800)

Welcome from the Chicago area with the highest sales tax in the US as of tomorrow. That sure adds a lot when purchasing a car. I like Corvettes too but we see so many in this area and not a lot of SLK's. Enjoy your new ride when it arrives.

cousjcc,
I assume you ordered a car. If so and it has been built, get the VIN number from the dealer and you can track your car across the Atlantic to your port of call.
Here's how:
Goto: http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/
Click on Auto Cargo down on the ri
