Welcome, and congrats on an excellent car!! I have to agree with you, the back roads in the hill country between Austin and San Antonio are some of the best drives in the south! Best of luch with your new baby, and remember to keep the top down and the bugs outta your teeth

My list of mods, re-arranged now that they are all done :

1] Clear Side Markers (Easy, best visual change you can make to the car..)
2] Green Filters (super easy 15 minute job)
3] SmartTop (should be #1, but you '09 "early adopters" don't get everything you should yet )
4] Float Charger (mine's unfortunately not a daily driver)
5] R170 Euro antenna mod (didn't have time to finish this one this trip)

Here's a couple of quick snaps before my bother and I went out and burned gas, after putting on the clear side markers. And yes, we did swap cars a couple of times, and yes, the MX-5 rocks, but the SLK rocks better! :P

I almos ordered the 55 myself but couldn't see spending the extra 15k or so just for 50ish more ponies and a couple *minor* cosmetic upgrades, not that I'm downing it at all mind you. To each his own I say. As for the list of mods there C200, the '09 comes with a shortened antenna. Is the R170 Euro antenna mod really that much of a cosmetic change? Prolly the only things I'm thinking of doing off the bat are the green filters and clear side markers.

PS - thanks again to all the new replies, esp Whiterabbit's for cargo tracking God the next two weeks are gonna be the longest in my life!!!

Congratulations on your new MB. I noticed you live in SATX. My wife and her family are from there. I have a good friend who works at the SA MB dealership. His name is Rick Meyers, look him up and tell him his friend Steve from Germany sent you. He may be able to get you a better deal or help out with accessories. Yet, he's living in Austin now, and is loving it! He drove down for the parents anniversary, and I wish I'd have had time to take the SLK up for a visit and a run through the hill country.

KTown good gosh you're kidding me! Rick Meyers is the salesman I've been working with since January. I followed him from MB of san antonio out to MB of Boerne, but he had a falling out or something with their management and came back to MB of san antonio, so I followed him back. The Boerne folks tried to pull a fast one on him (long story), which led to me getting a pretty decent discount on the car, and I'm still going through Rick now back at MB of san antonio. I'm fairly certain Rick is the reason my car was put on priority 1 and is coming in two weeks early. I'll tell him Steve says hey! Man... small world indeed!!

good luck with the clear side marker install. they are easier on the 09 slk 350 than on the 09 slk 55 amg. one screw instead of 2!
