Can the SLK Command control video playback on an Ipod?

Sorry mate like Bill says it only just manages to display the basic bits of info.

Could you do some soft of integration with your LCD?

I guess i didn't describe this correctly. Sorry.

What i mean is, if i have a Video IPOD connected to my 7" LCD screen, can i control playback (as in FF,RW,NEXT) from the Command. Or will command now allow video playback at all?

I am aware that Command can not display video. Was just curious of its Ipod abilities.

Command has nothing to do with Ipod except to select it as a source. from that point on, everything is controlled through the steering wheel buttons and the little screen in the insutrment cluster. Suffice to say: command has NO ipod abilities.

noregret mate unfortunately as cyberdrakon said the COMAND unit has no ipod abilities at all what happens when the ipod kit gets fitted is the AUX input line is used to feed the audio into the unit so it does not even have a proper connection to the ipod its just like plugging in headphones to it.

The CAN is used to send info via the control unit added in the ipod kit to the IC and back again and the control is quite limited.

Sorry mate

Dan

Three things about the iPod interface.

1. It is the only iPod interface currently that charges the iPod while it's hooked up. It also is only one I've seen display song info in driver's pod.

2. It doesn't display anything nice on AUX screen, or show the songs there, etc.

3. It sets shuffle songs and replay all, and if you leave it in the car, it keeps replaying all the same songs until you turn that off. Once you do, it will take 3 times of hitting shuffle with steearing wheel before it shuffles each time, or it will play a random song then every alphabetical song under it.

Remember, set your EQ to ELECTRONIC on the iPod for best sound.

I'll re-erect the thread. I know i've talked about this before, but I've still not got an understanding.

My car has the option: IPOD integration. So I'm in the dealers today. can I buy the lead, please? sure is your car fitted with the iterface loom. well it ways it has the integration kit. Ah, thats not the loom, it needs another loom. so whats the ipod integration kit consist of? oh thats something else.. what does it do. well it doesn't do it all you need the loom installing.. I give up and walk out. He said all cars have the socket in the glove box. that means nothing. so lets break this down. if I have a stock car thats never heard of the greatness of IPDO. what do I need?

1. IPOD integration kit?
2. some mystery loom?
2. cable from glove box to ipod?

OK easty you can have one of a few things i can tell you what one for sure after you have a look at something for me.

One harness connects to the COMAND and AGW and another connects into the center console store bin where they locate the ipod so if you open that up and have a look around for any ports that are installed i can say for sure whats going on.

The "cubby o' crap" between the seats in the center console not the riser at the back really cant miss it mate its normally broken

If you have a socket on the inside of the wall just behind the handbrake you have the second of the two harnesses if you don't then you have the first either way i can get it all sorted for you if you want got the parts list right in front of me now.

Thats the AUX in mate you can use that but it will just be for audio it wont charge it and you wont get the dash display.

For them you need the Ipod kit you currently have the interface harness installed you now need the interface and the ipod harness you can have the dealer do it but to be honest pal its well within your limts to fit it yourself and then you will just need them to change one setting like a 5 min job instead of a few hours.

alright mate will do i have done this before many a time so a step by step will not be a prob either pal.

Its real easy 90% installing a harness from the COMAND to the bin its a piggyback module so its plug and play mostly you might need to swap the odd pin but thats it.

Will get pn's ready prob best if you get the dealer to price them up the prices would not be right if i quoted them in £.
