| I'm trying to find out how many 2006 SLK have the rear splash guards and how many are missing them (mine is missing them). Is there any hidden purpose for those? Are they really necessary? |

| I don't think they're splash guards. Here's a thread by easygreenus: http://www.slkworld.com/slk-r171-gen...ed-slk350.html I think there's a small discussion on why some cars have them and some don't at the end of the thread (page 2). The second pix on this thread: http://www.slkworld.com/general-disc...19-my-slk.html by NP4WJ shows the black splash guard. My SLK 280 did not come with the rear fender "lip".

| In the EU at least they are there to increase the width of the bumper because otherwise there would be too much tyre sticking out either side for the regs. It is a simple trick just add them once the tyres reach a certain width and include them in the bumper measurement and hey presto job's a good an

| I must have gotten the high performance racing edition SLK 350, mine has them. Interesting, some have them, some not. I could understand if it was a country unique thing. I think I have the answer. The guy at the factory responsible for attaching was missing too many days of work.

| My car was delivered in August 2005. It was probably built in June 2005. I put my vote in the wrong place (2006 instead of 2005, sorry) My car doesn't have the splash guards. Should I complain? |

| believe it or not they are actually a specced item. They cost me an extra £70 to have them fitted. I live in the countryside so deemed them a necessity, especially front ones to keep stone chips down. however I only think they look right on a dark colored car. I have not seen a silver slk from over here have the front or rear splash guards on. |

| Thanks for the poll easty and thanks everyone for your input. When I asked my dealer if the SLK should have them they replied saying those guards are not specified in any document as a necessary accessory. I had to "tell" them that I hope all SLKs are coming with a steering wheel although this is not specified anywhere either. Should I look if there are any other items "missing"/"extra"? Please keep voting; this is becoming very interesting. |

Anyway I originally thought it only came with the AMG kit, then I saw it on non-kitted models so I don't know what to think. I'm keeping it, it does keep the rear clean to a certain extent. | |
