| Hi all, did anybody here import SLK 350, 2005-2007, from US to Canada? If you did what modifications did you have to do to the car and how much did it cost? Thanks in advance. |

| This is not quite what you're asking about but when I bought my 09 SLK 350 one month ago in the US, I had to sign an agreement that I would not sell the car out of the country for at least one year.

Wow - that's the first I've ever heard of that one. I DID, however, get asked to sign a "I understand MB electronics are complicated, and I will not add any electronic device, including navigation or radar detector without consulting the dealership audio technical staff first". I actually laughed at my sales guy, and I've now arranged to meet their "audio technical staff" when I pick up the car... I really can't wait to see who they are going to pull out of the service area :P | |

| Was that in the UK? I have no idea why they did that and i hope you did not sign because that would be in direct violation of your rights.

| I did this on the prior 280 and then again on the 55. Salesperson states it's to prevent unauthorized export unto gray market especially in Asia (where the tariff is 100% to 200%). A "used" MB can be imported at much less import duties.

| Sorry - to clarify - the SLK is in the states - so this was my dealer in Louisiana asking that I sign the "no modification" document, and no, I did not sign it. Saleguys didn't even flinch, so I suspect I'm not the first to refuse. In LA, the dealership would have to prove that a modification you made resulted in damage to the car. I've never heard of this actually being carried through unless it was major modification to the engine or structural components of the car, which from a warranty standpoint seems reasonable. |

| While I can't give you specific requirements to import an MB into Canada, my delaer in Calgary (Lone Star) will, if you give them the VIN of the car to be imported, calculate the exact cost as well as extend a full MB Canada warranty, if applicable. |

| Just curious as I'm in Toronto and looking to get an SLK too. How much did you end up paying and where did you look? The prices in the states seem much less to me even if I take into account all the modifications I would need to do. |

| Thanks Eddy... eatbeme: I wanted to buy the car specifically from Mercedes Benz Canada and I wanted manual transmission...I got the car for $47,000 from MB Mississauga, they were asking $51,500...its an 05 with 14 000 km...I actually looked at this specific car in May and they did not want to lower the price at all...they told me it was already lowered..so I walked away, waited a month and offered them $45000 they knocked it to $49500..i said $47000 not a cent more as the car was on the lot for almost 2 months...they accepted... I mainly searched for the car at mercedesbenz.ca--preowned inventory or autotrader.ca...good luck with the hunt...if you are looking for an automatic there is alot of them on the market but for manual there are only two in ontario right now both 07's with very low km... |
