Smarttop v3.1 and 09 slks

Hi all,

as first reported by white rabbit, there is an issue with 09 slks and the smarttop. when you use the console 1x tap method to close the roof, the windows, (all of them), do not close. I have emailed mods4cars and received the following email:

Hi Jeff,

thanks for your explanations.

As soon as we get the chance to fix the problems we will offer you a free update.

Do you know any SLK facelift owner in South California?

Thanks, I'll contact them and add that the double-tap of the top button does not raise or lower all the windows.
How does the free update work? I assume you have to ship the module back to them? It would be cool if you could flash update it using a PC.

Hello everyone, this is a very nice forum. I am learning and getting a lot
of needed information on my new car. Yes, when oppening or closing the roof, via center console, windows do not follow-up or down unless you use the swts. on door handle, I am going to take back to the dealer, They shoud be able to address this issue.

Hi sven, what do you mean 'the changed done by mb'? Does this mean our usa cars will never have those functions I and others have mentioned of the windows not going up on roof close with console switch?

latest communique from mods4cars ref: smarttop and 09s. read from bottom up:

Hi sven. Yes. When using the remote fob all windows close. When using the console close 1x the roof closes but none of the 4 windows close. You have to use the door switch to close all four windows. After using the console if you exit car you can then tap remote twice and all windows close. So the main issue is with console switch not remote. Thanks

i just received the following email from mods4cars ref: smarttop issues on 09 slks:

we might be able to update your module with a fix for the window issue.
Since you described exactly what happens
we looked at the code and found a way to fix it without the need to wait
for a test car. If you would like to give it a shot,
please mail your module to us and we will update it and return it to you.

i replied that i was not too mechanically inclined and did not want to go back into my cars innards 2 more times ( once to remove and then to reinstall and if that did not fix it, who knows how many times)

but we do need a guinea pig willing to try or we have to wait until they get their hands on an 09 slk.

if you want to be the guinea pig, mail yours back and include the isues with 09s and Stefan's entry.

I agree, that's poor customer service. As a minimum, they should send you an updated module, let you install it and return your old one.

You asked that I or others on our forum with an 09 to volunteer to send their module back for an update and testing. Hopefully you will buy this idea instead. Update a module and send it to me at the address below. This will accomplishes several things. One, I will not be without my smarttop in the interim of shipping, etc. Two, it will reduce the number of times I would have to dance with that stupid canbus cover that has a tendency to break clips to put my car back in oem condition with plugs.
