The SLK looks a bit smaller with a squarer body kit, not to keen on the square exhaust need to see it in person. Looks like the reviewers has the same opinion as me, thumbs down for no manual, and need a smaller steering whee. Thanks for the link

Apparently, the lack of a manual transmission is the only gripe the reviewers have with this car. One can only hope that Mercedes-Benz is reading this...

I feel like the 7G-Tronic transmission is poorly suited to the new SLK.

Part of the blame here goes to the automatic transmission, which really limits performance.

I can barely describe my disappointment when I realized our new SLK350 lacked the amazingly brilliant six-speed manual that we had in last year’s model.
While it may be that the manual transmission did not sell too well in the US (I'm sure MB did their own to contribute to this - in 2006, it was very hard for me to find a 280 equipped with it), one thing they should realize is that it does hurt their standing in the media and with car enthusiasts. To me, this is penny-wise and pound-foolish.

You guys over the pond are really missing out, too. I've been pleasantly surprised at just how good the manual box is in our car. Lovely short, precise throw - really adds to the sportscar feel. It seems bizarre to not offer it at all.

FWIW Other quotes from article:

Luzod goes on to say:

"That said, in plain vanilla automatic mode, the SLK350 eventually won me over."

Paukert says:

"I’m still a tripedalist at heart, but I found the 7G-Tronic paddle-shift automatic to be a resourceful and enjoyable little transmission."
