Default 2005 SLK350 with AMG - fog light replacement

My right side fog light got center punched and smashed the glass. What does it take to replace, anybody got some directions? What is a fair price for replacement lamp? Can only the glass be replaced? The light still functions. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks

if its the AMG fog you have to buy the unit and it's roughly $180. If it has the standard 350 light you can replace just the front cover for like $30.

To replace the glass or bulb, remove three #10 torx screws holding the black plastic cover surrounding the fog light. Once removed, three #10 torx screws holding the flog light in. You will have access to lens or light bulb.

Thanks for you quick reply but I am not sure what you mean by AMG and standard. I have an SLK350 with the AMG body kit. The fog lamp is round, about 3 inches across. It is not the cornering light.

Roy,

The AMG fogs are around $180 and you cannot just buy a replacement glass front as it's a sealed unit.

Any MB dealer can order you the part. if they say its 20-30$ then there ordering you the cover which can be replaced on non amg lights. they've done that with me once and I have the 55.

yours are the same as below then sorry it's not cheap fix.

Thanks Easty - your picture looks to be the same as mine. Can anyone confirm the part numbers and a place to find the replacement. The dealer just quoted me $155 for the unit. I have checked a few parts places and can't seem to locate it anywhere. Again thanks for the help.

I just had to replace one of the foglights on my SLK just over a week ago. The light was hit by a small rock and shattered. Yes, as others are saying, the entire unit needs to be replaced. The part at my dealer was $148. Installation was about $80. The foglight was covered under my car insurance as a comprehensive claim so they will be reimbusing me for all but my deductible.

I just had to replace one of mine for the same reason (rock). I got mine through a website (www.carpartswholesale.com) for $68 and installed it myself in about 30 minutes. It's an easy replace. Mine is a R170, but I think your setup is similar.

I found the AMG type fogs online from MB of Eugene, OR for $123. Not much of a savings over regular dealer price when you factor in shipping.

Incidentally, one of my fogs is leaking / dirty on the inside and the dealer is replacing it this week under warranty.
