Default Mirror light when in reverse

Hi,
I'm new to my R/H drive SLK. Just notived that the red light comes on in drivers side mirror switch when I put it into reverse (auto box). Is this usual - what does it indcate if it is normal?

It lets you aim the mirror down so you can see the curb while in reverse.

Default Mirror LED

Thanks for the reply Tummy. Not sure it's right though as the mirror does not move - I wondered if that was it, and it makes no sense as it's the passenger mirror you would want to tilt down surely?

The manual describes how to operate it, but the confusing thing about it is that you have to SELECT the passenger side button AND put the car in reverse. Then it will use that setting. If you don't have the passenger side button selected and you put it in reverse, the mirror will NOT move to a different position during reversing.

I thought that you only had to select the passenger mirror during the setup process, afterwhich it would automatically move to the reversing position everytime the reverse gear was selected, regardless of which mirror was selected?

Not on my MY. Most likely, if you push the passenger button to set it, then it will keep moving to the setting because that button was activated last. But if you then push the driver's button, then it won't move again.

Again that is how it works on my MY 350.

As I recall, there is a setting on the customisation menus to turn that feature "on" or "off".
