| My seatbelts are rubbing up against my red leather seats and leaving marks. I had the seat belt clipped inside that loop thingy on the side of the seat. It's comfortable to keep it there, but there are now black marks where the seatbelt slides !! I was thinking of a pad of some sort to cover the part where the seatbelt touches the leather. Is there a solution to keep the seatbelts going through the loop yet not cripple my leather? |

| maybe some Teflon surfaced tape on the inside of the seatbelt,... where it's in contact with the leather. Don't have the problem with the Nappa Tobacco brown interior. |

| I have been lucky so far. No belt marks yet on my light beige leather. I had some greyish stains on the driver's seat but I could get rid of them using a damp cloth. Are you talking about superficial marks or deeper wear and tear? I read a thread in another forum last year about the poor quality of the SLK's leather. It seems like some SLKs were equipped with leather of a lesser quality. If you think the belts are damaging the leather, I should recommend you talk to your dealer about it. |

| Ynot, those are HOT! and they would match my red leather interior! I actually found a set of black Real Leather pads with AMG or MB in silver on them. Not sure if i want the huge pad sticking out though. However if i can some up with some sort of mini pad that can sit in the seatbelt loopy thing, that would work. I plan to talk to my dealer about it on July 5th when i go in for service. Yes, the leather is actaully black don't know how i didn't notice this earlier, i guess it was covered up by the seatbelt being on top.I'll take a pic to better explain. |

| Noregret4life, could you post pictures of the affected area on the seat? I'm trying to brainstorm this thing.

| I tried water before and nothing came off, now i tried some Mothers Leather cleaner, and it all came off. However there is still some damage visible even though its not black anymore. This was left by the previous owner i guess... dirty dirty dirty. Here is the pic of before the cleaning ![]() Last edited by noregret4life; 06-28-2006 at 07:23 PM. |

| Make sure you clean the seatbelt with some mild warm dilute soap solution and microfiber cloth. Could you post the "after" pictures when you have the chance? Perhaps some Zaino leather-in-a-bottle or silicone/mink oil leather treatment may help from getting future stains.

| WOW! What a difference. Guess you're pleased with the result noregret4life, but now you haven't got an excuse to buy the cute red seat belt pads! |

I'm just don't want this happening again. Going to try cleaning the seatbelts first... and take it from there. | |

| After pix look great! I have red seats, too, but have not yet looked closely for marks. I think I'll do that tonight. I've had this discussion on several other occasions at Benz World: Are your seats a bright red, or a berry color? Mine are berry tone, and the AMG seats pictured in the '06 SLK brochure also look bright red. Just curious. Great color combination, by the way. I can see why you have no regrets!!!! Dinoman |

| I would say it's a Berry red. Seems a bit darker then a typical red, and i actually like the color better then standard "Cherry red" I don't think i've seen a Red on Red SLK pic before... Can we get a top down pic? |

| I guess it's just lighting, after all. Perhaps all the reds are the berry tone (which I really like, by the way). A friend took many pix of my five cars a few weeks ago, and made me a CD, but I haven't seen the pix yet. When I get them, Ynot has kindly offered to help me post them, as I haven't a clue how to do so. My SL is an '04 500 (non-AMG package), Firemist Red Metallic with Charcoal interior and Panorama roof. I also have an '01 Seal Grey Metallic/Savannah Beige Boxster 2.7 and two Ferrari Dino 246 GT's, one dark metallic blue and the other Rosso Fiorano (similar to MB Firemist). I'm anxious to see the pix myself, but my friend and his wife are presently away, so I'll be in suspense a while longer. Dinoman |

| Noregret, The garage is my favorite "room" in the house. About twenty years ago, a friend of mine (who, with his girfriend, had six vehicles, including a 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC and a Ferrari Dino 308 GT4) told his homebuilder: "I want a large garage with a house attached." He got just that, and the square footage of the garage was equal to or greater than that of the residence. I don't have such a luxury, but during the winter months and when I'm away on vacation, I can fit my two Dinos and the SL in my 2 1/2-car garage. The SLK has its own new "patio" around the side of the house. Dinoman |

| Wow, i wish i had a garage like that... Mine is a .5 garage... the idiots who built the house not only didn't make it long enough, but also not wide enough to fit a car. I am lucky enough to stick either 1/2 the front or the back when i'm working on a project. Can't open doors more then 4" though |
