    |  new ECU update I was reading about new slk updates and it brought me a question... Do you guys think SLK New ECU update for 2008 models will work on SLK 2004~ 2007 cause according to update info. there are little changes that wouldn't require hardware change... for example 08 slk 280 has lower fule consumption plus down shift rev match.. but i didn't see any hardware spec changed... it will be great if we can adopt new ECU without major cost... |

| i think there must be more than a ECU update to increase 30 hp and emissions, it changed, but it just won't be documented. For example, I don't think they'll tell you that the headers are now 3mm bigger and ported. |

| You'd need to get your dealer to flash the TCU not the ECU but your unit might not be compatible with the newer software. This is just for the blip.

| It means that the 2008 has a faster VGS so the unit on your car might not be able to keep up with commands issued by 2008 code. The gearbox itself is the same but the controlling electronics are updated, probably all software but i can't guarantee that.
