| Posted this in the for wale/wanted folder, but no response in there, so re-posted here. I've got the telephone pre-wiring system with audio 20, but no cradle. I want to eventually get rid of Audio 20, but for now it would be nice to actually be able to use my phone in the car. At the moment i just connect using a standard bluetooth headset, but i hate driving around with it in my ear. Questions: Where's the cheapest place to source a cradle for a Nokia 6280? Is it difficult to install (it goes in the arm rest compartment i gather)? Where's the microphone? Is it already installed somewhere in the car? Can i only make/receive calls or can i use it to read/send messages? Any other features like voice dialling? (Please bear in mind i have audio 20, not command). Thanks |

I think all 171 SLKs have a center compartment that has two sections...one on top of the other. By pushing in a side button (either from the driver's side or the passenger's side) the upper compartment will open from the respective side. This upper compartment is fairly shallow and it is the one that holds the phone. If you lift the lid from both sides you gain access to the deeper lower compartment. Someone on Benzworld who bought his car in Switzerland only had one deep compartment in his SLK. But, as far as I know everyone else has two compartments. Anyway, I think the phone cradle itself is fairly cheap. My Bangkok dealer gave it to me | |

| Interesting, i'll have to have a look. i've spent time just looking around the inside of the car, but obviously not enough time! But i did wonder why the cover to the compartment was so deep , seemed like it was a waste of space, but if it opens on the side to reveal another smaller compartment then that explains it. I called and enquired and my local MB dealer wanted £150 for a cradle! Where's the microphone? |

| Microphone is by the mirror. Well, at least it was for the SLK 320. I have been looking at the Bluetooth cradle. Only problem is Wireless4MB and MB don't guarantee it will work with my Verizon Razr. I am reasonably sure that it does from other forum listings, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. |

| Thanks mtiede, i'm about to pop out for a bit so i'll have a look for the mic by the mirror. If there's a bluetooth option then i'll definitely consider that as i change my phone often as that's the industry i'm involved in. Do you know what version of bluetooth the bluetooth cradle uses? I don't see why it wouldn't work to make/receive calls, but if there is further functionality like sms, voice dialling etc, then that is sometimes phone dependent. I'll look for more details on the bluetooth cradle and look into it further. |

| I did find the compartment in the end. I was looking for a button everywhere but couldn't see it, then i realised that it was within the groove that i use to open the main compartment. LOL! I'm such an idiot sometimes, I just had to stop trying and just look! According to my local garage MB supposedly don't have a cradle for the Nokia 6280 yet and the bluetooth option isn't compatible with my phone either. |

| I believe the microphone is inside the overhead console. You'll notice 2 areas on the shiny black plastic just lateral to the overhead interior lights with what look like small vents.

| Just a quick point about the microphones. There are actually three if you have MHI installed. Two on either side (vent holes) and one in the center (the larger silver grille). All three are averaged together for the handsfree unit, but only the center one is used for teleaid (as it doesn't have a noise cancelling function). |
