Quick badge poll

Since the Brabus badging on my car has been getting it a little too much attention I'm going to pop it all off and go stealthy.

It never seemed to get the eye when it was in AMG dress so I'm thinking about putting the stock badges back on but with it saying SLKB55.

Does that sound OK? No chance of some slimey git figuring it out that way is there?

Gonna be selling the Brabus cosmetic parts by the way (kickplates and shifter)

What kind of attention are you referring to? It's up to you, keep it, remove it. To heck with others, and what they think. Your can back up the badging on your 55.

Well it's been spat on before now and I've caught someone about to key the door panels.

I've also noticed its getting a lot of people peeking in the windows and I've seen the odd pull on the door handles also.

I never leave anything of value inside it but i think people see the badging and just assume it must have something inside also its quite popular to steal the car by fitting a tow rope and forcing it into the back of a lorry then stripping it and sending the parts all over the world.

I would be devastated if something like that where to happy to my baby she's just as much a part of the family as my wife and daughter and i know that it can happen to any car and i have no sure fire way of preventing it and it's just a risk we all take i know but i don't want to encourage them, and no matter what the insurance do the sentimental value could never be matched.

It never even got a second look in AMG badging hence my question.

In that case I would leave it without any badges.

Actually, Dan I'd suggest debadging the whole car. I plan to debadge my 55 when it comes as well because I've had problems with my other cars. One has been egged and a friend of mine's M3 got keyed.

I agree on complete debadge if it's getting that kind of negative attention. Any MB/SLK enthusiast will still know what it is anyway.

To be honest mate where i live is (touching wood here) normally a very nice place but just like anywhere else you get people who are jealous it's not really a problem in the places i use the car but sometimes i have to park in places i don't really want to and you get people who drive around in 1970's rust buckets living off of government money who think that because i drive a nice car i must be a prick, they neglect to think about the fact that i work hard for my money as do the rest of us on this site I'm sure.

Don't get me wrong it also gets compliments and I've come back to find notes under the wipers containing anything from "nice car" to "my number is -"

But i would prefer my baby to be left totally alone.
