| I received in the post today my paperwork relating to my factory collection and was hoping someone could offer some advice. Apparently the vehicle is to be collected from Bremen. Is this where all SLK's are now collected from? I have noted from a previous post that someone collected from Sindelfingen and wondered if this was an option that is still available? I really had a preference to collecting from Sindelfingen (Stuttgart) so that I could also visit the AMG factory at Affalterbach. |

| Thats how it works for us in the UK mate it saves on the transfer of the car. To get back to Stuttgart i think its about 5 hours from memory its been a while since i have made the trip and its the same distance to AMG. I used to make AMG to Stuttgart and back trips quite often when i was down there and it took me about 20 mins so if your going to the one you might as well check out the other

| I spoke with the personal collection people this morning and they said I could collect from Stuttgart but it would involve an additional cost as they would have to transport the car there. Thanks guys, my next problem is that the anticipated collection date is 3rd December. I ordered the car on the 5th July and was advised at that time that I would get delivery (to the UK) by 30th September. I was told that factory collection would ensure that I would have the car early, I'd hate to think when it would arrive if I had opted for collection from my dealer!! Does anyone know if 5 months is about right for an SLK55? |

| Hi Paul, I had a 5 month wait when I ordered mine in July 2004. The visit to the factory is well worth doing - we went round the whole SLK assembly lines except for the paint shop. I found that MB UK were very flexible on travel arrangements - I flew from Teesside Airport and returned on the Amsterdam - North Shields ferry.

| Thanks Woolly, it's looking like I'll be flying from Manchester. Just wondering did you take anyone along with you and if so how much extra did MB charge you for the flight and accommodation? |

| I went with my wife (extra £400) - recommend you purchase any extras you might be interested in from the factory boutique (BIG savings on UK prices e.g. BT mobile cradle £350 in the UK approx £200 there!). Lufthansa flight / Maritim Hotel literally first class matey |
