| Hello Everyone, I just picked up my new 08 Capri Blue SLK 55 yesterday and so far loving it. Only issue I have had so far is that the left paddle shifter fell out and both seem to be hanging on for dear life. They are so loose that I am not touching either of them because I am afraid they will fall out and get accidentally yanked from the steering wheel. Hopefully the dealership will get this resolved. I traded in my 07 RS4 for the SLK. I recently bought my wife a CLS550 and decided we didn't need 2 sedans in the garage. My other rides are an 07 Aston Martin V8, and an 07 Honda Ridgeline RTL. Anyway I have already picked up some great tips on this forum and hope to be able to contribute. My first mod will be the vario roof module from these guys...www.mods4cars.com. It looks as if these guys actually supply to Piecha which I have read that many other users choose. I say go directly to the source. ![]() My other question is regarding bluetooth. Since phone pre-wiring is not an option on these cars from the factory and it costs somewhere near 3000.00 USD to install it at the dealer, has anyone found any aftermarket units compatible with an 08 SLK? I have read up on Argos' solution but don't believe they have one working for the 171's yet. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Hil |

| If you don't mind, I've only heard good things about the RS4, care to comment? You have good taste in cars, any pics of the aston, they are beautiful, so is the CLS. Looks like you went car crazy this year, all 07's and 08's. Roof module is a great first mod, if you have problems with installation, etyu is the guru Sorry, can't help you with bluetooth. And welcome to the forum, hope you'll enjoy your stay

| The RS4 was a great car and I miss it. However when we needed a sedan we always drove the CLS. My wife does not drive manual very well, and so the car just sat there. I take a train to work and so my driving is limited to nights and weekends. (kind of like free minutes on cell phones). The only complaint/issue I had with my RS4 was that it consumed a lot oil during the first 5000 miles. It ended up being 1qt per 1000 miles. Audi has stated that this is normal during break in but it worried me. The performance and interior in the RS4 was excellent, so was fit and finish. I would seriously consider getting a RS5 if they made a convertible. I traded my 04 M3 Cabriolet for the RS4 and would miss the open sky feeling. Now I am hoping I have a car for every occasion so I don't see any new purchases for at least a few months. I tend to go through quite a fe cars, my previous being: 2004 Nogaro Blue S4 2004 Pheonix Yellow M3 Cab 2004 Infinity FX45 2004 Nissan Murano 2004 WRX Sti 2005 Audi TT Coupe 2002 Corvette Z06 (Lemon Lawed) I kept the S4 and M3 for quite some time because they were great cars to drive. I only recently traded in the S4 for the CLS. I'll update with some photos of the AM as soon as I can access photbucket. Thanks for the tip on the roof module! Hil |

| Hey Hil, welcome! Nice selection of cars you've owned there too. I toyed with the idea of an RS4 for awhile too before the SLK, but wanted that open top feeling more than I needed 4 doors and awd *L*.

| Welcome Hil from Southern California. Which state are you located at? I don't consider myself a guru for the SmartTop module as what Ynot said but have experience with the first generation Piecha module, SMartTop version 1, and SmartTop version 3.1. I have the SmartTop version 1 (currently removed from the 280). I've ordered Hands-Free Communication option on the soon-to-be-delivered 55. I'll find out if it was installed at the factory, VPC or at the dealer. If you don't mind me asking (since you have the 2008): Do you have the 4-piston front and 2-piston rear brake calipers?

| Welcome to the forum and congradulations on your new SLK55, the AMV8 is very stylish and I dont want to even comment on the sweet yet sound it produces at wot. A buddy of mine has a yellow AMV8 and its been very reliable only problems were squeeking brakes. I hope you enjoy your new SLK and your other fine collection of automobiles. Post often and get with the basics ie Green filters etc.

| Thanks for all the great information and welcomes. I've been having problems with photobucket so have not had a chance to post images yet. I will have to try another image hosting solution, but most likely I will just upgrade to premium so that I can upload them on slkworld. The SLK goes in on Thurs to get the paddles replaced. Hopefully that resolves it once and for all. I have had great luck with the RS4 and the AM Vantage. The only issues (dealer said it wasn't) with the RS4 was that it burned through 5 quarts of oil in the first 5K miles. Since it only just hit 5K when I traded it in it worried me a little. On the AM I had a small leak in the rear window which only showed up under high pressure washing. The brake squeal only happens when I don't drive it hard. After a couple of good high speed braking they don't squeal again until many hours of "normal" driving. That car does not like puttering around town I've ordered the SmartTop and hopefully the install will go smoothly.I was thinking about the BT and since I will most likely be driving the SLK around all the time with the top down, how useful is it to have? I guess that is why pre-wiring is a dealer option and not factory like the CLS. I am not sure I want to spend 3K on the BT. I would rather spend it on performance mods. ![]() Thanks again for the warm welcome and I will post pictures of both cars soon! Hil |

| Actually, I just looked at the options again and with my P3 I should have the prewiring already done. I should never listen to the salesperson, he said I would have to have the car completely wired since nothing is run. With the prewiring done, can I just get the bluetooth module? Hil |

| Welcome to the forum. I liked reading your comments regarding the RS4. I toyed with the idea of selling the SLK and getting the RS4. However, I decided against it and now am waiting to see the new C63 and M3. As for now, the SLK55 seems to be the best fit. It truly is a great car. I've read several comments regarding a paddleshifter falling off. In fact, it always tends to be the left one for some reason. I think you may find more comments regarding it on the MBworld forum. It is an issue that affects more than just the SLK.
