I just received the 2008 SLK brochure from MBUSA. Good news for prior model year owners: there is no major/significant change as far as appearance and specs are concerned when compared to the 2006 and 2007 brochures. There is no mention or reference to Designo colors/options.

As previously posted by those who have taken delivery of model year 2008 R171 - the center arm rest/storage is the one noticeable change, including the way iPod integration and the BlueTooth cradle/puck are laid out inside. There is no mention of this change in the 2008 brochure.

Page 40 talks about: "In conjunction with your SLK Roadster's pre-wired Hands-Free Communication System, the MHI cradle helps you enjoy the benefits ..." I think US models have the (what I would term "partial") pre-wiring but this is a misnomer, as it doesn't mention the need for a core and completer kits to complete the pre-wiring before the cradle/puck can be attached.

Four model years with no visible exterior changes. Not so sure that's a good idea. We have a 2005 and 2006, so I'm happy. Originally, I wanted to order a 2008. If I had, I would have been disappointed.

Seeing as I picked up mine on Friday and there was no "labour" charge for the phone I am assuming that the pre-wiring is total!!
