Does it just post being over due based on days? I got the car with 11k and the dealer said they just serviced it at 10k miles when I had bought it(dealer that sold me the car was same that sold it to the original owner).

Either its not been properly reset by the dealer when they serviced it or more likely its due again.

The service manual is just a guide the car will decide when it wants it done by itself, if its showing overdue it must be serviced i think you have about 1k miles from the time the warning appears to when the warranty is void.

Best get it looked at it probably only wants some fluid changing anyways

Latest update - Third time back to the dealer after having gearbox flashed twice, requested a senior techie come out for a drive. He noticed the jerky change issue straight away and left my car with them.

Have been told that the gearbox has been reset and manually programmed but issue is still there so techies in Germany have requested the dealer to strip the gearbox to locate the cause. Told this will take about 1 week.

Default same problems

hey guys, first day on the site but i too have the same problems discussed. I bought the car with 2,200miles on it, so is the car still trying to learn? Should i take the car back to the dealership to have the lastest "transmission software" updated? Any info would be great. BTW i drive a 2004 slk 350

thanks

No i would take it to the dealer with that MY and amount of miles.

Could be a "real" issue with the gearbox not just software.

Haven't been on the site for a while and forgot to update this thread.

Well after having the car in the dealership for over two weeks to have a C-Clip replaced, the car still has jerky gear changes. Ran it in, had the software flashed yet again, even had the Techie manually program the gear changes.

Completely fed up with some other issues not being rectified during my last visit, I brought this to the attention of the After Sales Manager. He spoke with one of only three Senior Mercedes Managers (who travel around the dealerships as gurus to fix issues that the dealerships cannot rectify) and discovered that the latest software applied is causing the issue as they are currently working with a couple of other cars which have the same issue to develop some new software for the gearbox. This was 6 weeks ago and still waiting for the software update, and not a word from my dealership.

Dan, have you heard of any new software for the gearbox due in the near future?

Well unfortunately it's time to revisit this thread, just got call from service advisior. About a month ago I had to have a sensor replaced in the steering column for the SRS, it seems the original one was shorter than the new version and it set off a SRS malfuction. Well this led to me taking the car in last week, seems they didn't get it installed correctly or it went bad and that led to me having the ESP malfuction on me while I was getting on the highway the other day, causing me to have to pull off the road and turn the car off and back on to get it to go off(the car went into "limp-home" mode...), well when I turned the the car back on the ESP malfuction was gone and no malfuctions stated in display, but the check engine light came on. I had planned on taking the car to the dealer for the service 'B' soon anyway (car has 24k miles on it) so this just speeded that up. Well, I had been having that transmission surging problem again at low speed as stated earlier in this thread. So, told dealer about that and the ESP malfuction along with the check engine light issue. The results:

-Service 'B' was done.

-Had to replace and fix SRS sensor issue which triggered the ESP malfuction(that made for a dangerous situation while trying to accelerate for onramp merge in traffic!).

-Check engine light seems to be mass air meter was going bad, so it got replaced.

-The tech drove the car and experienced the same surging at low speeds so called AMG for guidance on the issue...And seems that what the other tech earlier stated before(look at my earlier posts in this thread) is the fix for this, AMG told them to pull the transmission and replace with a new one. So, I won't have the car back until late next week. Getting to drive a new C300 until then.

Have a great dealer and awesome service rep, but the problems stacking up seem to have me concerned for the future reliability.

I've been considering getting the extended warranty for my 05 350. Your posting has convinced me to do so.

How odd.

SRS and ESP are different systems (no shared sensors) and ESP won't trigger limp mode or a CEL the MAS(MAF) on the other hand will.

I think they probably made a mistake putting it in but so long as they have fixed it now thats all that matters, everybody makes mistakes.

What I was told is the SRS and ESP share some part of the onboard computer. The way the car acted I would have thought it was more then "limp-home" mode, the car was still running but had zero power, you would have thought the the fuel had been cut to just enough to idle. When it went off the onboard display said, "ESP malfunction" and something about take in for service ASAP!

Yes, I think it either got installed wrong or it just failed...lasted almost 2 months before this happened. The ESP malfunction was not good, very bad timing for it to want to kick in while trying to merge on highway.

As, for my car's transmission the build is early 05' so wondering if AMG has since changed some things on the transmission since then, because they were having problems with some of the early ones and instead of just trying to replace parts in it they thought it was best to put new one in and have old one shipped back to them.

Update: did some checking around on the web, and it does seem MB had a fair amount of problems with the early 7G transmissions (many ML owners not happy) before 2007. Most problems being, surging, jerky and rough shifting.

It's all good my dealer is great and really taking care of me...

Kind of surprised how much the C300 can get up and move for size of engine in it. This car has a 7G transmission in it and it shifts and works way smoother than mine.

I have thought about that too, but I am wanting to mod the car more next year after the warranty runs out.

I had the same problem. Took it to the dealer, they reset the driver adaptation program, and now it works like a normal beast.

I've had the same issue with the transmission in my '06 55. Shortly after the purchase the dealership did something to the computer program but never touched the transmission. In fact I was told it was "normal". Well, it's so bad I tend to warn passengers prior to driving away. It feels like I'm going to smack my Foster Grants on the steering wheel every time it does the 2-1 downshift dance. I've only put about 6k on the car in 2-1/2 years...mostly because I have other's that don't tend to beat-up the driver. I'll take it to the dealership one last time. If it still persists then I'll know what to do. In Ft Myers, Fl we have a BMW dealer across the street.

I've said it numerous times in the past 3 years but the 7G automatic is the only aspect of my SLK that I don't like.
