Are the seats Nappa all over or just the middle part? And what´s about the door panels? Nappa should be smooth but the sides are not. Has anybody informations?

Don't think i understand mate?

If you spec Nappa it should all be Nappa apart from a few things that are not covered in it on non-AMG cars.

Nappa leather trim on door handles and lower portion of the doors besides the upper trim.

Seats full nappa leather which is very soft material and not grainy like the non Nappa leather seats.

I think its worth it if you want to compare it to the designo interior trim which can sost upto 6k probably.

I ordered Nappa, but the whole "Nappa seat" is not smooth. The side parts and the door panels are in that way like the standard leather. Is Nappa smooth, or is there another way to produce it? I´m in doubt, hope you know what I mean.

I dont have a clue how it is produced but it feels smooth, thats from my experience as we had a non nappa 280 SLK and my 55 has nappa leather.

Here is a picture of the Black/Beige non nappa on a SLK280

The nappa leather would feel softer or we could say smoother, Gero why not contact your dealership for more information?

Have you sat in a 55? the seats should be the same feeling on any car with Nappa and it should cover the whole seat.

I have brown Nappa leather as an option. They are smoother in texture and softer than regular leather but I think the side part of the seats are regular leather or "leatherette". The door inserts seems a little bit more grainy but are quite soft. The door handle inserts and the elliptical inserts on the door handles are smooth leather.

Yes I did. There is a difference and you can order black and brown Nappa in Germany only. The sides are not smooth, like the door panels. Please look pic

If it´s true it would be embarrassing. You pay Nappa and get just a part of it?

Hard to tell from that pic Gero - here's a pic of my nappa leather beige interior if it's any help. There is one difference I've noticed in my interior from some other '55's and that is the seat don't have that suede material on the upper side seat bolsters. It's leather all over instead.

Bill, I have just learnt something new as I just knew that the monotone SLK55 interiors dont have alacantra on the sides.

You benefit as its easier to clean.

Mine doesn't have the alacantara on the upper bolsters either. Just figured it was becase I don't have the Premium packs or something.

I will take a look at my 55 when I get it back but I want to say hat the entire seat is that soft smooth leather that is mmm mmm good. I like it a lot. The upper bolsters might be drying out a bit on my, but I am putting conditioner on them at least every two weeks to keep them moist.

To keep the leather soft ,shiny and smooth the interior needs to be detailed every 6 months.

Personally I used to use Meguirs gold class conditioner in between the 6months before taking it to a Professional detailer. Its good for cleaning and removing black spots.

I have been using Lexol separate cleaner and conditioner. I don't use the cleaner everytime but it is pretty cool because you spray it on a damp microfiber and it will lather up like soap. You can then clean the leather and rinse/dry it with another microfiber. Then apply the conditioner as normal, it is the typical white lotion type stuff. I believe they also make two types of cleaner, one for newer cars that don't need reconditioning and one for older leather that needs some help.

Oh well I might look at some Zymol stuff when I go to Euro Auto Festival this year as they have a booth with all their stuff.

Gero I dont think there is any difference between the nappa on the 55 AMG and between those that are ordered on the 200K,280 or the 350. I havent seen any Nappa leather equipped SLK 200k,280 or 350 here.

I'm starting to become worried here . I thought that the whole seat faces including backrest and squab and also the door panels/armrest/map pocket came in Nappa if you specified Nappa or have I read this thread wrong?

When we are talking about the sides of the seats are we meaning the vertical parts of the seats that tuck into the plastic plynth or the parts on the outer limits of the squab/backrest that you sit on or rest your back against?
