Default En-LIGHT-en me!

My driver's side front side light went out. I want to go get a replacement bulb, but I am unclear on removing the lens properly. Can anyone previde any hints?

Also, I think the difference in flash rate between the front turn signals and the LED mirror signals looks stupid. Are there LED bulbs I can put in the turnsignals that won't set the system crazy with codes? How about the back?

A friend was showing off his new BMW 328i coupe. I find it strange that BMW would make the parking lights LED, but the stop lights have slower lighting incandescent. However, they have an inside light that comes on after a further delay / further depressing of the brake, that seems a neat idea.

see the sticky on benzworld.org
Benzworld.org - Mercedes Benz Discussion Forum > Mercedes-Benz Roadster Forums » R171 SLK Class :

Sticky: DIYs, Documents, Manuals, and FAQ links. Covers roof rattles, and other common issues

there is a section called:

Clear Sidemarkers
by bmwnomore and fgwinn
Clear Bumper Lights, finally!

that tells you how to remove and install the bulbs.

hope this helps.

Looks like someone crashed them. I will have to retry later.

To get to the sidemarkers, one needs to remove 2 smaller bolts (silver color) at the bottom that holds the horizontal plastic engine floor against the wheel well. Remove 2 larger black bolts at the wheel well. this allows one to flex the wheel well cover and access the back of the side markers (front wheels turned towards the opposite side). the bulb holder is a simple twist and remove. It uses wedge 5w lamp.

Link to LED bulbs that may be suitable, without using resistors, but these are for the turn signal lamps: http://www.slkworld.com/general-modi...t-upgrade.html

I thought he just wanted to change the bulb/lamp and not have to remove the sidemarker assembly.

Hmm, didn't seem to have anything much about taking the side markers off. I am not interested in clear, I'm interested in not breaking my factory ones when I replace the bulb.

Oh yeah, and it's not the cornering lamps (first pic in that thread) but the side fender lights.

Maybe I'll wait and have the dealer do it since I have some rattles they need to address. ;-) "Flexing" various plastic peices does not always sound that good to me as I am somewhat brutish and tend to break things.
