Not being mercenary, BUT the MB door opener is about 250 sheets - my electric (double) garage door assembly only cost 180 sterling, including 3 IR remotes - I keep one in the house, one in the BMW bike, and one in the SLK where the ash tray should be. As I drive up the driveway, I just pop the storage tray, then hit the remote - none of this 'groping around your mirror'

If you've got 2 garages and a gate, then you should have a butler to open them for you when you get home (probably a chaufeur as well, so you don't have to drive)

I also asked for the parts no. of the garage door opener while I was at MB for first service. The assistant parts manager found out that there are 3 different modules, depending on the build of the car (my guess was that the intellicode HomeLink system/module is different for different countries) and the VIN will allow them to pick the correct module. The price varies from US$250 to $460. One can purchase an aftemarket garage door opener remote (and some models can operate up to 3 garage door openers) for about $38 at HomeDepot for the singles, and close to $60 for the ones that control multiple doors. This may be a better and a lot cheaper alternative for cyberdrakon. I know dinkoslk at another forum had the OEM garage door opener installed by a shop (Florida?) and it wasn't a problem. Just needed a power line and a ground line. If only I could remove the darn overhead console.

| I think there was someone on one of the other forums, probably BenzWorld or MBWorld, that tried to do this in the past. I seem to recall pictures and instructions for removing the overhead console. Try searching over there for more information. |

| Sorry etyu i thought i read that the guy said the harness was not installed i remember now that you said you might just tap the overhead power line for the lights right, sorry about that i should have checked the benzworld post you made sorry. The different types are for different country frequency's correct but even my UK EPC found the correct one for your car it was the only US one listed on the system so it should be real easy for them to find the right one the frequencies are listed right next to the PN. I will have a go at removing my console in the morning see exactly what has to be done and will report back. Dan

| aquascape, how about a 3-4 channel universal open you can program like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/Gate-Garage-Door...QQcmdZViewItem Though you may have to check the frequency range to make sure, but perhaps keeping one of these in the car, you can manage 4 RF openers at once. |
