| If you checked out AMG forum you might have heard that there's been a survey sent out from AMG lounge... I already posted in that thread, but I thought the implications are big enough I should create a new thread for general discussion. The whole survey is only for C and SLK-class AMG owners - and it is designed to gauge reaction towards the AMG owner's reaction towards smaller displacement turbo V6 instead of big V8 in AMGs. Engine choices in one question was: V8 and twin turbo V6. I see a turbocharged SLK AMG instead of 6.2L V8 in our future... ![]() ![]() I would think it would actually create better weight distribution and better for modding. What are your opinions? |

| Was any power or performance data included to help in the decision process?

| Nope. Just questions about if we cared about displacement and environmental effects - maybe turbos cause more CO2 emissions? There sure were a bunch of questions about how much we were green-friendly or not... Other half were gauging reaction toward a smaller turbo engine vs. big V8. |

| Nice one! V8 Turbo / Bi-Turbo maybe? Or better yet V12 Bi-Turbo would need a bigger engine bay but thats a sacrifice I'm prepared to make ![]() I suppose i could live with a V10 if i had to.

| V8 turbo or V8 supercharged wasn't an option unless you wrote it in.

| haha, Very good! Its not a size thing really but i just love the rumble of a V8 or the scream of a V12/10. I just can't get my head around a V6 don't get me wrong they can be made to go like hell but the car would be started not woken up and that makes a big difference to me.

| V8 for me as well - it's the MAIN reason I opted for the SLK55 over other roadsters out there. Not that a V6TT can't be made just as fast or faster, but for me I love the easy stress free performance that a healthy large displacement V8 offers, what with it's gobs of torque all across the rpm range. And yes, ohhhhhhh that glorious exhaust rumble - no tea pot noises can compete there at all!

| Elite SLK World Member | Maybe it's just that I'm an old guy (59) but the acceleration of my stock SLK 350 is quite adequate for me. I live in a suburb of Chicago and it's rare that I get an opportunity to use the HP that I have let alone the HP of a turbo V6 or a V8. If this weren't the situation, I'd have bought an SL65AMG or a Ferrari. |

| Come on yall don't want a kazoo with a blow off valve? I don't think I would have bought my SLK55 if it had come with a V6 (FI or NA). I mean the sweet sound is a big thing for me. I would say they are looking at a V6 for weight reduction and emissions. Granted I didn't buy my SLK55 new but I don't think I could drop $70,000usd on a SLK with a V6. Just seems cheap. Plus I guess it would be similar to Acura putting a 2.3L turbo I-4 in their 4200lb small suv. Uh sure it makes 240hp and 260tq but it still sucks balls. Anyway I know I shouldn't have brought up Acura in a MB forum but anyway. Carry on. |

| my comments were similar to many i've seen here. go on a diet, produce the slk63 AND offer more factory options, such as carbon fiber parts, and a manual tranny. |
