Default Questions before I buy my wheels/tires

Just had a couple questions to make sure I don't buy the wrong sizes etc.

1. 18x8 35mm front and 18x9 35mm rear sound good?

2. What tire sizes? 225/40/18 F and 245/35/18 R? Going with either Michelin PS2 or Goodyear Eagle F-1

3. These wheels/tires + Brabus springs shouldn't cause any rubbing correct?

Thanks in advance!

Oh, these are the wheels, used Photoshop to see how they would look on my car:

Original pic from mbusa.com

Photoshopped with wheels, slight drop, and color to match mine

Hello Mark, wellcome from Germany

1. You can take spacers to that dimension
2. I´m sorry, no idea
3. You can take Eibach, H&R or Weitec, they match without problems too and they are cheaper than Brabus. (Brabus buys the springs, the other three are producers) So buy Eibach, H&R or Weitec and buy a roof module or green filters (you find it in our shop) for the price of just Brabus springs..

18x8 & 18x9 with 35mm offsets will need spacers? What size?

Thanks for the info about the springs, I also heard somewhere Brabus uses H&R Springs. Maybe I'll look into those.

Just a possibilty, no need. Each SLK is different, if you want them you have to see which size is matching. Probably 5mm front and 10mm rear on each axis.

No idea about Weitec, but I think you're off on your pricing a little. Brabus are made by Eibach as I understand it. Eibach are not available for the SLK in the U.S. (could be wrong, but they weren't when I looked into it). H&R's will drop the car more and make the ride harsher.

I bought my Brabus Springs for $ 360.00. H&R's go for about $ 300.00. So, yes Brabus are more, but not that much more. I think it really comes down to the drop and the ride. If you want a O.E.M. like ride with reasonable drop, get Brabus. If you want a more aggressive drop and don't mind giving up a little ride quality, get H&R. I have Brabus and would buy them again in a minute. For me, a mid-40 year old weekend driver, they are a perfect fit. Reasonable ride comfort and an aggressive, but not slammed drop.

Mark..you are on the correct path.
nice wheel choice, i personally think SLK's suit multispoke design, and a nice drop via a set of springs. I have Eibachs and rate them highly.
be sure to keep us updtaed about your choices.

ps. bmwnomore i love your car, great pic! a set of skirts and it would be perfect!!!

Mid 40??? I thought you were my age, early 30's.

But yeah, Brabus is more comfortable, if you like that, I'm happy with mine but I wonder if I would do it again, sometimes I feel the SLK is too comfortable, not sporty enough, not low enough, the grass is always greener on the other side.

Thanks for the help guys, 99% sure I will be going with these wheels wrapped with 225/40/18 & 245/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 2s and lowered with Brabus springs...

Unfortunately my car is in the body shop right now repairing scratches on the front right bumper and rear right fender (Dealer employees apparently can't drive) ..At least they're covering the cost, but no SLK 'til tuesday.

Yes, a harsh reality.

But I feel and act like 30 something.

Man a cheap set of eibachs would be awesome, wonder if it would pay to have them shipped to the states, if it still would be cheaper than brabus.
