Default My lowered SLK350

I finally got my Brabus Springs on. I posted some pics over at Benzworld, but I thought I'd post some here for all to see. I'm very happy with the overall look. I was going for classy, but snazzy. Check them out.

Default My Loweered SLK 350

Great Looking. Whose front is this? and was it expensive and did they paint and fit it? Also are the wheels 18" or 19" and whose are they?Did Brabus change the shocks as well as the springs when they lowered? The set up looks really nice.
sorry if these are too many questions..............G

Lovely! What did you do with the roll bars? They are looking great!

Gayle: The front lip is a Piecha item. Not expensive - you get it colored from Marcus Piecha if you want.

looks great!!!! well done. wheels are stunning and it sits perfectly with the springs.
I wouldn't think a piecha exhaust would look out of place, or a set of skirts, would really finish your car off.

Thanks guys. I'm real happy with the look. The front lip spoiler is Piecha. I bought it un-painted for somewhere around $ 600.00. Then I had it painted and installed at a local bodyshop for around $ 300.00.

The wheels are 19"x9.5" rears and 19"x8.5" fronts. They are DCR Hockenheims three-piece forged wheels. The centers are brushed, the lips high polish and the centercaps chrome. YNOT has them and loved the way they looked on his car, so I got them too.

The Brabus springs are springs only. I bought them on-line and had them installed locally by a mechanic. The ride is very O.E.M. feeling. I personally love the look and am surprised at the comfortable ride.

The thing below the SLK350 is a dealer badge. It's a long story, but when I bought my car, I told them NO BADGE! Of course, when I picked the car up, the badge was on. I had them take it off, but when they did, they put a little scratch where the badge was. So, my choices were to have them paint my brand new car or put the badge back on to hide the scratch. I had them put it back on and got them to give me the plexiglass windscreen for the screw-up.

Nothing special about the roll bars except the plexi-windscreen.

Alroumi, you are twisting my arm.

Yeah, the wheels are pretty stunning. I've thought about side skirts. I like the Brabus ones with the lights, but they are pretty pricey. Not sure about other makers, but I agree it might add something. We'll see.

Here's a pic of the back of the car. I think my plate says it all.

I was browsing through some pics I took of the car before it was lowered. It's interesting to see how the look of the car is changed quite a bit with just an inch in the ride height. I never really noticed how high the butt is in a standard suspension car. The first is non-lowered, the second after lowering.

Wow! That machine sure looks aggressive! How much lower is it compared to the regular 350? Can you feel the difference in the car's behaviour?

I believe the Brabus Springs lowers the car about an inch in the rear, maybe a half inch up front. Not really 100% sure, YNOT has Brabus Springs, maybe he knows exactly. But, whatever it is, it makes a world of difference in the aggressive look department. It changes the whole stance of the car, especially with the 19" wheels. The springs are surprisingly similar to stock in behavior and ride comfort. I sense they are a bit stiffer, adding a more sporty feel, especially with the stock suspension. As I said before, I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the ride still is with 19" wheels with rubber band sidewalls and stiffer springs. Really not incredibly different from stock. Maybe a little harder, but nothing readily noticeable. The only comment I can say is that with the new set-up, I can sense the body roll in the standard suspension more. It's no different than before, but with the slightly stiffer set-up, it feels like the body roll should be tighter too.

It is truly amazing how just an inch can make such a huge difference as far as the overall look is concerned. My car is stock and I don't even have the AMG package. Although I adore my baby, it never really looked like it was ready to devour the asphalt, if you know what I mean!

Default My Lowered SLK 350

Looks fabulous! Have to say hope when my treads are worn to do something similar on my 280. I love those wheels! I wonder how much my 0-60 acceleration will drop with the 19" from the manufacturers advertised 6.1? I guess they are forged, sure wish the wheel manufacturers would list the weight. I was thinking 17" would be enough of a drain, but maybe 18" would be ok,now 19" ,that has got me worried if I will lose too much in performance with my 280. Do you know what the wheel/Tire combo weight is? and whose tires? G

I understand many are concerned with wheel weight. Not me. I want that 19" look. IMHO, nineteen inch wheels are perfect for the SLK. I'll just cruise with two gallons of gas (max) to keep the weight down .
