| Hey guys, Been looking through the various threads concerning the smart top mod. Can anybody confirm that he power seepage issues that was indentified in the V1 mod has been rectified in the V2? Could be an issue for me as the car will lie unused for some weeks at a time. Also any differences in the install on the V2? Being a complete dummy when it comes to anything involving technical work, just need to be sure I can manage it! |

| I don't believe there was a problem with smart top V1. I think the problem was with one of the Piecha versions. I think the current Piecha version is the same as the current smart tops. So I suspect V2 is fine as well. My V1 hasn't caused me any problems, but I don't let the SLK sit for very long |

| I believe this is how they are: Piecha Version 1 = Original(possible battery problem with pulling too much power if leave for too long) Piecha Version 2 = SmartTop Version 1(fixed the power issue, and has the flashing hazard lights when opening remotely...wish I could turn this off) Piecha Version 3 = SmartTop Version 2(the newest one, has some notification of programming in the MFD in dashboard, can also turn off the hazard lights "feature") |

| Reminder: Step 9 on installation instructions-- On SmartTop version 2, you have to assemble the wires or pins that lead to the CANBUS male and female plugs/connectors that come supplied with the kit. The numbers (1 and 2) are molded unto the male and female connectors, right next to the holes and are very very small. Use magnifying lens and good lighting if needed to verify placement. Long thin pins go to the larger connector/plug. For the SLK, red wire goes into the no. 1, black wire to position no.2.

| I spend most of this afternoon going hru the various (mainly v long) threads on this install and now I'm not so sure ![]() Looks to much for me!! Also noticed on the video file on the Piecha website when then top is coming down there is no flashing indicators (cos this would really put me off). Is this switchable off? OTOH I my just forget about it ![]() |

![]() Here's a link to varioroof module, RHD install process: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r171...ht=RHD+install Post no. 24 on this thread is a better way to tap the wire as you can push out the light switch assembly. Removing the one bolt that holds the gas pedal will allow more room in RHD install. The gas pedal is "drive by wire", so there's no mchanical adjustments if you remove the gas pedal/accelerator pedal. Also check this thread too: http://www.slkworld.com/general-modi...n-stalled.html

| OOps! Just noticed you're in Paris, therefore it's a LHD drive vehicle, right? Do read every post in this thread for LHD install: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r171...y-once-11.html (pages 11, 28 and 30)as some offer tips that is not mentioned by the first person (Shinigawa)that did the installation.

| I'm not the one asking the question, thanks. ![]() I was actually replying. My module is already installed. And yes, France is LHD . The only country in Europe doing otherwise is the UK. Sweden shifted in the 50's I think. |
