Default Cleaned Air Filter

I noticed that my car hasn't been performing well lately. I guessed it was my air filter and I guessed right. Check out all that build up. The filters weren't all that dirty but it sure trapped a lot of debris. (BTW i have 12,000 miles on my car)

Doug, to see the other smileys (after hitting quote on a thread or post), on the box at the right hand side, there is a link marked [More] towards the bottom of the box. Click on this and you'll see more smileys and banana smileys. Also you'll see the text shortcut for the different smileys. To attach smileys you can click on them or use the text shortcut.

Hope the above helps.

Mine is about due for inspection and cleaning, hope I get time to do it this weekend. I remember installing the Green Air filters in mid to late December 2006.

I changed to my Green Filters two weeks ago and found the same mess! Lots of leaves, etc. And the filters looked like they trapped a sandbox.

Really sad to think what is happening to my front end, since they use sand to help with the ice which we had at least 4 or 5 times this year. That is why I put on a clear bra.

check with tinting shops. a lot of them are expanding into that market. i originally had ventureshield and still do for lights, mirrors bumper and grill, but when my nose and fenders got damaged, the body shop referred me to a tinting place and they ordered clear bra and put it on themselves. no yellowing or peeling. and i am in florida with that hot sun! good luck!

Actually ordered it off of E-Bay and then had my tint shop put it on. With a black car no yellowing. Some edges didn't stay down like I would have liked (darn the F1 front end), but it save the front from some bad truck/rock damage. Same stuff they use on a military aircraft. I saw one on a white Corvette, and the Texas sun had severally yellowed it, so the owner (who owns the tint shop) was slowly removing it. Much cheaper than having MB dealer put it on.

I just checked my 06 SLK 280 and it does not have those grates in the air passage on either side. Is my car missing them or has Mercedes stopped using them in newer cars? Or are they used in AMG models only?

How the hell do those leaves even get in there? Just from driving during the fall or something?
