Default Sencond generation bluetooth adapter?

I just purchased a *new* bluetooth adapter for my SLK. I was sold a puck number B67875839. I read that now there is a SECOND GENERATION bluetooth adapter (part number B67875878). What is the difference between them in functionality?

I'd like to know the difference in the two. Second generations, I like the sound of that. Anyone?

I wanted to have Bluetooth but I was told that I needed the regular cell phone puck and system installed first. Is that true?

Zut, you need the phone pre-installation in order to be able to install a BT puck. The pre-installation is an option you can add when you order your car. It can be installed later but it's somewhat expensive. The BT puck will run from $350 to 450 depending where you purchase it. Regards, Charlie

Well, in that case, I shall pass. Here, this system costs about $3,000, which is utterly ridiculous IMHO. In fact, this is exactly why I chose not to have it installed in the first place. I thought I could save by having the Bluetooth instead but since I need the other system, it defeats the purpose!

Thanks for the info anyway.

Zut, check out this link (SLKWorld - several months ago) providing detailed information on the MB Bluetooth system. Not sure about Canadian vehicles, but it appears that most, if not all USA SLK are "prewired". I have the MB system and it's great. If the MB is not feasible, check out Parrot.com for a cheaper aftermarket Bluetooth system.

Interesting... In fact, this is exactly what my salesman told me in the first place. I believe the prewiring comes with Comand but I am not sure. It is the service guy who insisted that I got the whole system installed. I shall look into it. Thanks for the info!
